Healthier Lifestyle May Reduce Stroke Risk:

A recent study found that older adults who adopted a healthier lifestyle—which may include behaviors like a healthier diet, exercise, reduced sedentary time, not smoking, managing stress, and avoiding excessive alcohol consumption—had a 23% lower risk of stroke over the following seven years when compared with participants who maintained their baseline lifestyle. Conversely, study participants who transitioned to a less healthy lifestyle during this time frame experienced a 41% high risk of stroke.

According to an analysis of data from the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey, higher phosphorus intake was associated with up to a 56% lower risk of metabolic syndrome—a cluster of conditions including central obesity, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, and elevated blood sugar that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
