Congratulations to our Spotlight Resident this month-Mary Beth! She was born in Grand Rapids, MI in 1933. The family moved to Battle Creek when she was in the third grade. She grew up in a duplex, her aunt, uncle, and cousins lived on the other side. She enjoyed growing up with cousins who felt like siblings and has many wonderful memories of those times.
She attended Battle Creek Central and Kellogg Community College. Donald was on the track team, they met, fell in love, and were married in 1952. They were blessed with three boys, Tim, Brian, and Michael. Mary Beth has eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, plus one due in April. They enjoyed attending their boys’ activities and traveling.
Mary Beth worked as a secretary most of her life, dedicating 35 years to Post Cereals as a secretary. Mary Beth has been a member of First Presbyterian Church for over fifty years. She genuinely enjoyed her years in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and volunteered for their rummage sales.
Mary Beth is most proud of raising three successful boys and being an excellent secretary.
Before moving to Lakeview, she served as the Secretary and President of the Bridgewood Condominium Board of Directors. She made many friends and often played dominoes. She still joins them regularly to play!
Now, at Lakeview, she is a member of the Welcome Committee, enjoys Bingo, games, and trips to the Casino.
