On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day — and every day — I’m grateful for the men and women in uniform who go beyond the call of duty to support the health and safety of our community. Especially those who step into difficult moments, respond to mental health crises, and choose compassion alongside responsibility.

In the latest episode of our podcast, retired officer Aaron Smith shares his perspective on why strong partnerships between Summit Pointe and law enforcement matter. Aaron is instrumental in our Crisis Intervention Training program, which provides officers the training to respond to mental health crises, leading to safer outcomes for community members and law enforcement. Thank you to all who serve our community with care, commitment, and integrity.

I’m honored to introduce Sgt. Sean Brown, a valued member of Summit Pointe’s Board of Directors who brings an essential frontline perspective to our work.
Through his role in crisis response and Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, Sgt. Brown regularly encounters individuals experiencing mental health emergencies in the community. His experience responding in real time—and helping train others to do the same—offers invaluable insight into how mental health providers and first responders can work together to support people in moments of greatest need.

In this podcast interview he shares how these experiences inform his approach to crisis response and why partnership across systems matters so deeply. I hope you’ll take a moment to listen and hear his perspective.
