Dimension: Vocational Wellness, Emotional Wellness

Activity: Santa Came to Town

This Christmas season, one of our residents stepped into the role of Santa Claus for our resident Christmas party—and the joy was truly contagious. With a bright smile, a hearty laugh, and plenty of holiday cheer, Santa reminded us all that purpose doesn’t retire.

Supporting vocational wellness means honoring the skills, roles, and sense of contribution our residents still carry with them. By taking on this meaningful role, our resident Santa experienced the pride of giving back and being needed—something we all deserve at every stage of life.

Just as importantly, moments like these nurture emotional wellness. Laughter, connection, and shared memories filled the room, warming hearts and lifting spirits. The smiles on faces—both giving and receiving—were priceless.

We are so grateful for opportunities that allow our residents to shine, feel valued, and spread joy. This is what the season, and caregiving, is all about. ❤️🎄

🎄 Social Wellness in Action! 🎁

Nothing brings people together like the joy of giving. This week, our residents shopped in our very own Christmas Store — a special time for them to browse, laugh, socialize, and pick out the perfect gift for someone they love. ❤️

These moments do more than spread holiday cheer… they strengthen social wellness, encourage connection, and remind our residents that they are part of a community that celebrates together.

Seeing their faces light up as they chose gifts for family and friends was truly magical. ✨
Here’s to a season filled with togetherness, meaningful interactions, and the joy of giving!

Activity: Pet Therapy

Pet therapy refers to the use of animals as a way to help people cope with and recover from some physical and mental health conditions. Pet therapy can help our residents in several ways, such as reducing boredom, increasing movement and activity through walks and play, decreasing loneliness, and improving mood and general well-being.

Here are some our residents reaping those benefits as they enjoy the company and sweetness of our facility dog, Biscuit, and dachshund puppies who came to visit. I am not sure who enjoyed it more...the dogs or the residents!

Activity: Fall Family Night

Last Thursday we spent a beautiful evening with our elders, their families, and our amazing staff. We shared delicious treats, played bingo, and filled the room with laughter and smiles. Nights like this remind us how special these moments of connection are—where friendship, joy, and togetherness make everyone feel right at home.

Story: A visit to the beauty shop is for more than just appearances, it is essential self-care! Taking time to to pamper yourself is a simple yet effective way to boost confidence, reduce stress, and strengthen your overall emotional wellness.

Here we have a few of our ladies being pampered by our crew using our in-house beauty shop. If it isn't lifting their spirits (ours included), I don't know what could! Special shout out to Jan and Sheyenne for going all out for these special ladies.

Activity: Uno!

Story: Playing Uno is a secret weapon for maintaining and improving mental health and cognition. This simple game demands sharp focus and concentration as you track the action, and it exercises your working memory by requiring you to remember opponents' cards and the flow of the game. Every choice you make, like when to strategically deploy a "Skip" or "Reverse," also hones your quick, adaptive planning skills. These residents are always ready to grab a deck and play smarter!

Activity: Bean Bag Toss

Story: We are always finding fun ways to keep our residents active and feeling their best. One of our favorite activities is the Bean Bag Toss!

It's more than just a game, it's a gentle, engaging way to support physical health. Each toss helps improve hand-eye coordination, balance, arm strength, and flexibility. Reaching, aiming, and tossing also promote joint mobility and encourage healthy movement in a way that's both safe and enjoyable.

Best of all, the laughter and encouragement shared during the game keep hearts happy and spirits high. Because when movement feels good and is fun, everyone wins!

Dimension of Wellness: Spiritual Wellness

Activity: Memorial Service

Story: ​​Grieving a loss is a necessary part of life, and our community is here to support it every step of the way.

​Today, we hosted a special Memorial Service to honor recent residents who have passed. Much celebration was had singing some of there favorite songs, sharing special memories, and lifting up each of them in prayer and remembrance.

​The service gave our remaining residents a dedicated time to express emotions and receive comfort together in a safe, supportive environment, fostering community healing.

Our deepest condolences to the families of the residents who have passed. We are honored to have been a part of their journey.
