This season, we pause with grateful hearts to reflect on how thankful we are to serve families in our community.

We also recognize that for many, this may be the first holiday without a loved one. Please know you are not alone — may the comfort of cherished memories and the support of community bring you peace.

From our family to yours, we wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Patricia Hughes Munger

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our wonderful, kind and selfless mother, Patricia Ann (Hughes) Munger. Our hearts are comforted in the certainty that she is now with God in Paradise. She departed this world on November 23, 2025 after a brief illness, surrounded by our love until her last breath.

Patricia Ann Hughes was born on June 24,1925 in Bay City, MI, the 7th of 12 children. She graduated from St. James High School in 1943. Patty lived her life with remarkable grace, resilience, and had a gentle spirit that touched everyone she met. Her legacy is not measured in years, but in countless small acts of kindness, smiles, and love she shared with family and friends. Her favorite expressions spoken daily were “be happy”, “God is good”, and “don’t forget to say your prayers”.

As a young woman, Patty worked for Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. After meeting Robert Munger, a romance blossomed. They loved dancing to ...

Today we pause to recognize the many children who are grieving the loss of someone they love. Grief can be overwhelming at any age, but for children—who are still learning how to understand and express big emotions—support from caring adults and a compassionate community makes all the difference.

Let us remember to:
~ Acknowledge that children grieve, too
~ Listen without judgment
~ Offer patience, understanding, and safe spaces
~ Remind them they are not alone

Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, educator, or friend, your support of grieving children matters more than you know.

At Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home, we are deeply grateful for our veterans and their families — for the sacrifices made both on and off the battlefield.

May we always remember, respect, and thank those who have served.

Judith Ann "Judy" Jeffers, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in her hometown of Bay City, Michigan. Born on April 13, 1937, Judy's life was a tapestry woven with joy, kindness, and an unending zest for life. She was a cherished wife to Richard Jeffers for 60 years, a devoted mother to Tom (Lynne) Jeffers and Jennifer (Beth) Jeffers, and a doting grandmother to Mia Carr, Logan Schultz, Jordyn Jeffers, and Bennett Jeffers.

Judy's early days in Bay City set the stage for a life filled with community ties and family bonds. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Gertrude (Munz) Piper, and sister to the late David (Donna) Piper. Her roots ran deep in the city that she loved.

Throughout her career as a Sales Representative, Judy's bright personality and genuine care for others shone through. Her ability to connect with people was not just a professional skill, but a personal gift that she extended to everyone she met. Judy's dedication to her ...
