Starting hospice care earlier can give patients and families more time for symptom management, emotional support and improved quality of life. While most patients only experience its benefits for days or weeks, hospice is available when a physician certifies a life expectancy of six months or less. Timing makes a meaningful difference.

When a caregiver in the early stages of her IVF pregnancy learned that an expensive, critical medication was suddenly no longer covered by insurance, she turned to Mary Sarrazin, Sr. Benefits Specialist, for help. Mary sprang into action, escalating the issue and advocating until the medication was approved.

Her colleague shared: “Mary’s actions truly demonstrated all of the Amedisys SPIRIT values, especially her passion, integrity and respect. I am thankful to work for a company that has an HR department dedicated to helping their employees.”

This month's Employee Spotlight features Temeshia Bailey. 💚 This LPN has been a part of our team for a little more than a year. She came to us with home health experience, and having become an LPN in 2005, she has gained experience in other settings such as skilled nursing facilities, mental health offices, and a local prison clinic.
Temeshia has 3 children; her oldest just graduated and passed LPN boards, and the younger ones are active in sports at J. U. Blacksher. As the only LPN we currently employ, she is an integral part of our team. We are happy to have her and cannot wait for you to meet her!

Today is National Wear Red Day. ❤️❤️❤️
Each year, the first Friday in February is celebrated to bring awareness to heart disease, specifically heart disease in women. This disease is one of the top killers of Americans, and *the number 1* killer of women. Much of the research completed has been focused on men with heart disease, and as many American women can tell you, their symptoms did not present the way you typically hear a heart attack or stroke described.

Our Caregiver Spotlight for the month of October is on Lisa Cox, our fabulous Social Worker! Lisa hails from Daphne, AL, and holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Alabama. She is well versed in resources available to our surrounding communities including Veterans' benefits, Medicaid Waiver, and longterm planning.
She has two sons, both attending college in Louisiana. One is at LSU, and the other plans to attend Tulane's law school. In Lisa's spare time, she creates fun and funky headwear including hats, headbands, and crowns.

Our July employee spotlight is on Mrs. Annette Bramlett. 😍 Mrs. Annette is our most seasoned Physical Therapy Assistant. She has been a PTA for almost 25 years and is a long-standing member of the Bay Minette community. Her husband, Warren, and her sons, Matthew, Joshua, and Steven, are her joy. She lights up when she talks about them and her grandchildren.

May's Employee Spotlight is on Kiley Ethridge, our wonderful PT. 💚
Kiley oversees the physical therapy services for our location and provides exceptional care to patients throughout the communities of Little River, Stockton, Bay Minette, Stapleton, Spanish Fort, Perdido, and parts of Loxley and Robertsdale. She is from Abbeville, AL, and completed her undergraduate courses at Troy University; in 2019, she obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of South Alabama. Kiley gained experience in rehab settings and now lives in Spanish Fort with her dog, Bogey, and her cat, Idgie.
We are pleased to introduce you to Kiley and hope you can meet her soon. 💚
