New Year’s Eve Safety & First Aid Tips

New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year for emergency responders. Between parties, cold weather, fireworks, and alcohol, medical emergencies rise fast — and most happen long before EMS arrives.

Here’s how to stay safe when celebrating:

Alcohol Safety
• Don’t let anyone “sleep it off.”
• If someone won’t wake up ➜ Call 911 and place them on their side.

Firework Safety
• Keep children away from sparklers — they burn at 2,000°F.
• Never relight a dud.

Cold Weather
• Watch for shivering, confusion, or slurred speech — signs of hypothermia.

Choking Risks
• Parties + finger foods increase choking accidents. Learn how to respond.

Bleeding & Trauma
• Controlled bleeding = lives saved. Learn direct pressure & tourniquet skills.

Start the new year prepared.

BVAC Rescue Response Training Center offers CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed, EpiPen & NARCAN, TECC, and more.

Top genre: Lifesaving.

The biggest songs of 2025 might be wrapped, but you can (and should!) still learn the simple steps of Hands-Only CPR. If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

Finding holiday cheer doesn’t have to mean packed schedules and perfect plans. Sometimes it’s the small stuff that makes the season feel bright: a familiar ornament, a warm drink, or a quick call with someone you love.

Take a breath, enjoy the little moments, and let the season unfold in a way that feels good.

Starting your NYC Concealed Carry application? We can help.

Applying for a concealed carry permit in New York City can feel confusing and overwhelming — strict requirements, detailed forms, and multiple legal steps make the process tough for first-time applicants. That’s why we created the NYC Concealed Carry Application Essentials Class at the BVAC Rescue Response Training Center in Bayside, Queens.

This class breaks down the entire CCW application process so you know exactly what the NYPD License Division requires - and how to submit a complete, compliant application with confidence.

In this class, you’ll learn:
What forms and documents you must complete
How to use the NYPD online application portal
What needs to be disclosed for background checks
NYC & NYS eligibility requirements
How to organize your application to avoid delays
How your required NYS 18-hour CCW training fits into the process

Whether you’re a first-time applicant or just unsure of the paperwork, this class helps you avoid mistakes, reduce stress, and move forward with clarity.

Perfect for anyone who:
• Is applying for an NYC concealed carry license for the first time
• Wants a step-by-step guide without guesswork
• Wants to prevent delays or denials
• Wants peace of mind knowing their application is done correctly

At BVAC, we give responsible applicants the knowledge, structure, and support they need to navigate New York City’s CCW process with confidence.
