Remembering Jason in our own special way, at the place he lived in the winters, where he wrestled in the sand with his nieces and nephews, snorkeled, fished, and felt lucky to exist.

OBITUARY - JASON K MAHR

Jason Karl Mahr, 47, of Englewood, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. His family and friends are deeply saddened.

Jason was born on July 28, 1974, to Joel and Diane Mahr in Point Pleasant, NJ. Jason attended Central Regional High School, class of 1992. Jason was a jack of many trades. He was a partner with his brother in a marine towing and salvage company out of Waretown, NJ, a boat captain, a skilled carpenter, and a real estate investor. Living most of his life in Ocean County, NJ, Jason was well known in the community and considered himself blessed and fortunate to have grown up in the Pinewald section of Bayville with an amazing group of close friends during an amazing period in time.

Jason married Lisa Cirocco on February 8, 2017 In Bayville, NJ. They loved their Yellow Labrador “Macie” who enjoyed an amazing life with them before passing, and then “Ally” a Black Mouth Cur who Jason and Lisa rescued, and who misses Jason dearly.

Jason was born with a devilish smile and full of mischief, which everyone who knew him adored, and he kept his family on their toes. As a young adult, he was known to be fearless and never passed on a dare. He raced KTM motorcycles, rarely missed a hole shot, took many wins, and had a tight group of friends who raced with him. Jason grew up in a marina running boats from a young age, and throughout his life. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and was known to fish sharks like few others. He was a hunter and loved shooting trap and sporting clays, winning the title of “Best in State - Trap” in 1990. Later in life, Jason developed a love for horticulture and landscaping, and took particular pride in the condition of his meticulous lawn and landscaping. Jason developed a passion for day and swing trading stocks, and found continued thrill in the risk he took on trades, excitedly rubbing his hands together as he enjoyed the adventure of the stock market.

Jason jumped both feet into every new hobby and trade he ever entered, and his K9 sidekick was always nearby. He had a passionate love for dogs, and was always bragging about what his dog did on any particular day. Jason and Lisa even fostered a dog through Suncoast Humane Society in 2021 which they fell in love with while preparing it for it’s new home.

Most of all, Jason had a deep and passionate love for his wife Lisa who was his pit crew and cheering section at motocross races. They shared a love for their dogs, building their amazing piece of paradise in Englewood, Florida, playing cards, and simply enjoying life together.

Jason had an amazing group of close friends, and developed long lasting friendships in everything he did. Stories about the feats Jason took in his friend’s presence are endless, and many referred to him as “a legend” and “larger than life” And although Jason and Lisa never had children, Jason developed a particularly close relationship with George Schiano who Jason’s family jestfully referred to as Jason’s son. And Jason, lucky as he was, never had to change a diaper.

Jason is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lisa Mahr; his parents, Joel and Diane Mahr; his sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Christopher Kruysman; his brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Stephanie Mahr; his many adoring nieces and nephews, Connor Kruysman, Alexandra Mahr, Carly Kruysman, Cash Kruysaman, Joel Mahr, and Danika Mahr. Jason’s in-laws include the DeBenedetto family of Lacey Township, NJ; the Bono family of Shelby Township, Michigan; and the Cirocco family of Spring Hill Florida; and many, many, many extended family members and loyal friends.

He will be missed more than words can say.

Jason’s cremated remains will be brought back to Bayville, NJ where a celebration of life will take place on a date to be announced in early July, at his childhood home where he grew up exploring trails, riding horses and motorcycles, and loving life. After the service, Jason’s remains will return to Florida where he will rest in peace in the paradise he loved.

Inn lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Suncoast Humane Society, the organization who allowed Jason and Lisa the special time they enjoyed preparing their foster dog for it’s new home.
