Dear Patients and Friends,
I hope and pray that this letter finds you and your families well. I have made the difficult decision to temporarily close my office due to the pandemic. I will reopen as soon as possible.
You are all in my thoughts an prayers. I want to strongly encourage you to abide by the social distancing protocols put forth by our government leaders and the world renowned scientists working with them.
As your chiropractor I would like to share a few thoughts from a holistic healthcare perspective. A strong immune system is cultivated by the daily actions we take to keep ourselves healthy. The effect of any infection on an individual is partly determined by the health of the person, not solely by the invading organism. It is the host, not the invading organism that determines the prevalence and severity of the symptoms of an infection. This is great news for us all!
Many of you who are my patients have heard me "lecture" about the five pillars of health. Adhering to these pillars will encourage a healthy immune system which will mitigate the effects of any illness. Here is a brief overview of the pillars:
1. Diet - Eat whole, natural foods. Organic if possible. Avoid processed foods, fatty foods and sugars (processed carbohydrates).
2. Exercise - Find a way to get yourself moving. Go for a walk, jog, hike or bike ride. YouTube an exercise video or a yoga class. Dance. Incorporate some strength training also.
3. Positive Mental Attitude - Have faith in a higher power. Pray, laugh, love and read. Find a way to make the most of the current situation . love love love...
4. Rest - Set yourself up to have quality sleep. Our bodies heal, grow, fight infection and strengthen during sleep.
5. Use the Health Care Professionals and Resources you have to monitor and improve your health. Follow their advice to address any health challenges you may have. Get chiropractic adjustments frequently. Take your vitamins and meds.
I hope that you choose to incorporate these pillars into your life. Your health is under YOUR control.
I wish you all peace, love and strength in these trying times. I am anxious to see you all and return to serving my patients in the profession I love as soon as possible.
Yours in Health,
Dr Norm
