That Part Needs Your Love

On a day when I feel totally stuck
When I'm scared to be
And scared to move
A gentle voice tells me:

The part of you terrified to let go
That part needs your love

The part of you that would rather suffer than heal
That part needs your love

And if you feel antipathy towards your own sorrow
That part needs your love, too

And if you're mired in resentment
Remember that
Resentment is the consolation prize for lack of love
So that part needs your love

Love the blockages
Love the part of you that can't envision anything
beyond the painful now
Love the part of you that refuses to be loved
But desperately needs your love

If there is any part of you that
You think doesn't deserve your love
Love that part of you even more

The first step of love is always
Caring and accepting who you are
If you don't treat every part of you with love
You're doomed to repeat the trauma once inflicted on you

And if you've convinced yourself
"I
don't
know
how
to
love
myself"…

That part needs your love

A Prayer in the Midst of Darkness

As I sit in an unfamiliar wilderness
On an overcast moonless night
When I feel surrounded by inescapable darkness
And fear clouds the memory of light

I strive to remember

There is beauty out there
Even if I can’t see it at the moment
There is magnificence out there
Even if I can’t see a single sign of it

There are stars shining
throughout the universe
Trees growing tall,
their roots growing deep
Seeds underneath the soil
still planning to emerge
And robins meeting robins
to make more robins

My eyes strain to look for glimmers of hope
Or perhaps I’m just scared of the dark
I close my eyes and envision reminders of joy
As I wait patiently for the new dawn
