Degenerative disc disease refers to the gradual deterioration of the spinal discs, which are flexible cushions located between the bones in the spinal column. These discs serve as shock absorbers and enable smooth movement, bending, and twisting. Pain caused by DDD may be intermittent, lasting for weeks or months, and it can lead to numbness or tingling in the arms or legs. Additionally, the pain may radiate down the lower back and buttocks, and it may worsen when sitting, bending, or lifting. The underlying cause of degenerative disc disease is the natural aging process, which results in the gradual deterioration of spinal discs. Minor injuries can cause small cracks in the spinal discs, often near nerves. Even if these tears are minor, they can still cause pain. The pain associated with degenerative disc disease can manifest in the neck or lower back and may extend to the arms, hands, buttocks, and legs. Contact APICO Pain Management™ today to find out more about DDD and the treatments available.

Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that can provide significant pain relief for patients experiencing compression fractures of the spine. The procedure works to stabilize the fracture and help restore height and reduce deformities in the spine. During the procedure, a cement-like material is injected into the targeted area, which hardens within the bone, supporting and stabilizing the fracture to prevent further collapse. For patients suffering from painful spinal fractures, kyphoplasty provides an effective solution. Schedule a consultation at APICO Pain Management™ to evaluate if you are a candidate for kyphoplasty and help get you on the path to living pain-free once again. https://apicopain.com/

Spinal stenosis is a condition where the canal that holds the spinal cord becomes narrowed, usually due to arthritis. When this happens, it can put pressure on the nerves in the back, causing pain, tingling, weakness, or numbness in your hands, arms, feet or legs. Some symptoms can gradually get worse over time. Symptoms may include neck and back pain when standing up straight, problems walking or balancing correctly, or shooting pain running up or down your legs. Individuals experiencing chronic back pain frequently have restricted mobility and diminished quality of life. The MILD Procedure involves placing a minimally invasive device through needle insertion into the spinal canal to alleviate nerve pressure, avoiding the need for major surgery or general anesthesia. Patients commonly report substantial pain relief, enhanced mobility, and an ability to easily resume normal activities. If you have chronic back pain resistant to other conservative treatment options, the MILD Procedure may provide relief. Please contact APICO Pain Management™ to learn more and find out if you're a candidate. https://apicopain.com/

Are you a candidate for epidural steroid injections? Are you experiencing neck, shoulder, or arm pain due to a pinched nerve in your cervical or lumbar spine? Common causes include herniated disks, spinal stenosis, or radiculopathy. An epidural steroid injection may provide relief. During this procedure, an anti-inflammatory medication is administered into the epidural space surrounding the spinal nerves. This acts to decrease pressure and swelling, which may be exacerbating pain. Epidural steroid injections have been shown to successfully reduce inflammation and the associated pain. If you have been suffering from chronic back, neck, or leg pain, an epidural steroid injection could help. To determine if you may benefit from this treatment option, please contact APICO Pain Management™ to schedule a consultation. We would be pleased to evaluate your condition and discuss whether epidural injections may help provide relief for your spinal pain. https://apicopain.com/

What is Neuropathic Pain and How Is it Treated? Neuropathic pain is a complex and often chronic type of pain that arises from damage or dysfunction in the nervous system. Unlike pain from a cut, sprain, or inflammation, neuropathic pain originates from the nerves themselves. This makes it more difficult to treat and manage, but with the right approach, many people find relief and regain control over their lives. Read more about neuropathic pain and how to treat it here:

Neuropathic pain is complex, but understanding its causes and treatment options is the first step toward relief.
