Writing a eulogy can be one of the hardest yet most meaningful things we do. It’s a chance to reflect, share stories, and honor a life well lived.

In loving memory of Sarah Kathryn Davidsmeier.

Rooted and Free

She trusted God and thought things through,
Her faith both steady, lived, and true.
She taught for just a season’s time,
Yet lessons grew beyond the line.

A farm wife strong in wind and sun,
Her work and prayer were woven one.
She stood by conscience, calm and free,
And now rests in eternity.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Shiloh Church in rural Virginia. Private graveside services will be held prior to the memorial service. A traditional visitation will take place Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.

Memorials are suggested to the Cass County Food Pantry and/or the Shiloh Church Mission Committee. Condolences may be left online at www.colwellmemorialhome.com or on Facebook at Colwell Memorial Home.

Family business has a whole different meaning to us.
Our kids have known no other life than living in a funeral home, and their friends have grown up right alongside them.

Today was a special day. The weather didn’t cooperate, and we were coming back from a celebration of life at a country church, running behind to get back into town for a visitation. Without hesitation, our staff had it covered—doors tended, sidewalks scooped, families greeted with care. And Emma? She enlisted her friends and stepped right in.

This is why it’s called family owned.
It’s not just a name—it’s who we are.
