As we mosey into the holiday season, let this be a reminder that it's not the money you spend or the things you have that truly matter. It's the love given, the time spent, and the memories made that make the season special.

Seasonal depression or seasonal affective disorder happens most often during fall or winter when shorter days and less daylight can affect the chemical balance of one's brain. If you're finding that you're not feeling like yourself (sleeping more, loss of interest in things you formerly enjoyed, increased grouchiness or anxiety, social withdrawal), there are ways to help get you through the season.

- Find ways to spend time outside. Daylight really does help and while there's less of it, spending time outside during your lunch break or even in the early morning hours before work can help!
- Spend time with people. Making plans and getting yourself out of the house can break up the mundaneness that can set in.
- Get regular exercise. This one always helps!
- Eat well-balanced meals mostly but treat yourself when you need a little pick-me-up and don't guilt yourself.
- Lessen your alcohol intake
- Ask for help if you need it. See a healthcare provider and talk through your options if you need.

After a loved one's funeral, grief doesn't end. It'll ebb and flow with each person's healing journey looking different. And while the absence of a loved one brings out deep emotions, especially during the first holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays after a loss, death doesn’t mean you lose your love for the person who has died or their impact on your life. Instead, your relationship changes – from one of presence to one of memory.

Finding ways to honor your loved one's memory is an important part of the healing process. We encourage you to continue with traditions or activities they loved, or create new ones in their memory. Go to their favorite place, indulge in their favorite meal or sweet treat. Listen to their favorite music. Most important of all, be gentle with yourself and seek professional help if your grief feels too heavy to carry.

Wherever you look, we hope you do it with kindness to yourself ❤️

If a friend is going through the loss of a loved one, it can be hard to know how to best show up for them. The most important thing to remember is that your efforts don't need to be perfect—rather reaching out and showing up in a consistent manner is what's most important here.

1. Offer help! Whether that's picking up groceries, offering to walk the dog, watch the kids, or doing some household chores. Being specific keeps the person grieving from having to make the decision.
2. Be present & check in. Don't just offer up a single text and then disappear.
3. Write in your calendar birthdays, anniversaries and other big milestones and reach out during those days.
4. Let them be sad and don't try to fix, fix, fix.
5. Sending a care package, card, or meal is always a sweet way to let a friend know you're thinking of them.

Our Story

Welcome to Noe Funeral Service located in the beautiful and historic town of Beaufort, NC. I, Chris Noe, have been a National Board Certified and State Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 2004. Having worked for other funeral homes, it was my dream to bring a funeral home back to my hometown of Beaufort where the Noes have lived since 1842. That dream was realized in 2013 and as of 2019, Noe Funeral Service is the only fully family owned and managed funeral home in Carteret County. Like most local “mom and pop” businesses, we started small and continue to grow thanks to the community embracing us. My staff and I are dedicated to offering the highest quality funeral services at an affordable cost and above all else, follow the motto “Here to Serve”.

Noe Funeral Service, Inc is a fully licensed funeral home through the NC Board of Funeral Service. We own our funeral home and lease our chapel which is located across the street at 100 Lockhart Dr. Operating under this model is how we are able to offer more affordable services. We provide all funeral services and offer a full line of funeral merchandise such as caskets, urns, grave markers and custom items such as casket cap panels and printed service items. If you are not from this area, we have a great deal of experience with shipping decedents across the country and world. We are well versed and experienced in handling Veteran affairs as well.

Thank You for considering Noe Funeral Service. Please contact us with questions you may have.
