Yes, it’s cold… but it’s DRY and the roads were totally fine driving into work today, so I am grateful! The water is on, the heat is blasting, my bed warmer is cranked up, and the hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course) is ready.
The kids are at home living their best life with school cancelled, but I’m here and ready to work! One of the biggest blessings of this practice is how truly family‑ and child‑friendly it is. Honestly—what other medical provider has an entire room dedicated to parents and children?
So if daycare or school was cancelled and you still need your pelvic floor PT… you can absolutely still come. We’ve got you. 💛

I really enjoy this podcast. I would describe myself as a life long student. I love to learn and especially love to learn about things that are relevant to me personally and professionally. Both are true for this episode. I am 45 and in perimenopause. As a women’s health pelvic floor PT this information is vital to my patients as well. In this episode of Hot for Your Health, Dr. Vonda Wright is joined by Dr. Corinne Menn and Dr. Kudzai D***o, board-certified physicians and menopause specialists in active clinical practice with Alloy Health. Together, they unpack what women are not being told about perimenopause and menopause—and why so many women are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told to "wait it out" during one of the most biologically disruptive decades of their lives.

At Elevate Pelvic Health, we strive to give the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our dearest loved ones. This patient has given us the honor of working to improve her pelvic girdle pain, and back pain during pregnancy. We have also worked on birth prep including, learning to relax the pelvic floor for the pushing phase of birth, perineal massage, counter pressure techniques to manage pain, and body work to reduce back and pelvic girdle pain through her second and third trimester. We also included her husband and thought him these techniques so that he can better support her during this time. I have seen a huge transformation, moving from a place of worry to confidence. I love this job!

I love this enactment of the role of the pelvic organs and pelvic floor during vaginal birth! During birth prep for my patients I always tell them the same thing, “during vaginal birth your uterus pushes out the baby and your pelvic floor doesn’t need to be strong but instead get the heck out of the way!”. Pelvic floor PT during pregnancy can help you learn how to relax your pelvic floor so it is not a barrier to the baby exiting your body. Your pelvic floor muscles need to stretch and relax so that this is possible. Some people are naturally good at this and some need help. A pelvic floor muscle assessment prenatal can help you to know if this is something you can work on during pregnancy so that you have a better birthing experience. In the flip side, you do absolutely need to be strong during your pregnancy to support your body as it takes on the role of growing and carrying a baby. Pelvic floor therapy can also help you maintain a strong core and pelvic floor during pregnancy.

Please take a listen to this much needed public service announcement. I too find this problem in my practice as a women’s health pelvic floor physical therapist. Many women that could benefit from local vaginal estrogen are scared away from using it by FDA labels that are meant for systemic estrogen not non systemic estrogen. And even when a woman is well educated on the efficacy and safety of using this to help with genitourinary syndrome of menopause/perimenopause many medical providers do harm when they deny the prescriptions or don’t identify women who could benefit from it. Please take a listen. This is very well said.

I can not say enough about the Get Mom Strong programs. I have been using this app to get strong since June 2024. Right now you can get a free 30 day trial. Take advantage of this offer. I did a free week trial and was hooked. The yearly subscription is a steal for the value.

Whether you are pregnant, newly postpartum, or an advanced athlete, Strong Like A Mother (SLAM) has a program for you.

Your body goes through so many changes postpartum whether you have a vaginal or c-section birth. Pelvic floor physical therapy can help her rehabilitate your core and help your scars heal properly. Sometimes its hard to know your doing the right thing at the right time postpartum. When is it safe to add core exercises and which ones are good for me? How do I correct my abdominal separation? There is alot of misinformation on web and core rehab is not one size fits all. Plus c-section rehab is different from vaginal birth rehab and you need someone who knows the special considerations. I have 19 years of clinic experience plus 7 years of pelvic floor specific training and a certification in Pregnancy Postpartum Corrective Exercise. Elevate Pelvic Health truly is specialized in treating this population.

Five years ago, a journey began to bring specialized pelvic floor physical therapy to the community, starting with personalized concierge care brought to your doorstep in the thick of Covid. The demand was clear, leading to the opening of the clinic in Beaumont. The practice has grown into a team of 3, expanding the scope to treat not just perinatal patients, but women in all stages of life, and men too. It's an honor to provide hour-long sessions, focusing on what patients need, and to work alongside an amazing team. Thank you for 5 years of Elevate Pelvic Health! Stay tuned to hear about how we are celebrating.
