We've all been there. A little too much fun in the sun, you forget to reapply, and then you're paying for it later. The best option would be to get a time machine, go back in time, and prevent the sunburn, but since the market is a little light on time machines, here are my best tips for Sunburn SOS:
🆘 Get Out of the Sun & Cool Down
Move indoors or into the shade as soon as you notice you’re burning. Take a cool (not cold) shower or bath to cool down your skin. If needed, apply cool, damp cloths to the affected areas for 10–15 minutes several times a day.
🆘 Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
Gently pat your skin dry and apply a moisturizer while your skin is still damp. This will help seal in moisture. Look for lotions with aloe vera or soy to help soothe the skin. Avoid petroleum or oil-based ointments, which can trap heat.
🆘 Hydrate & Heal
Drink plenty of water to help your body recover and prevent dehydration. Take over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen if needed. If blisters form, let them heal naturally to avoid infection. Choose soft, loose-fitting clothes to avoid further irritation. Stay out of the sun until your skin has healed.
