Understanding the Holiday Blues: The holiday season is often painted as a time of joy and celebration, but for some, it brings a host of unwelcome feelings, often called the “holiday blues.” People experiencing this may feel stressed, downcast, or overwhelmed during December’s festivities. The holiday blues can arise from disruptions in daily routines and diets, reduced daylight hours, […]

Meet Rhonda Laffoon LVN for Pulse Homecare!

🌟 Nurse Spotlight: Rhonda – Pulse Homecare 🌟

At Pulse Homecare, our nurses are the heart of everything we do. They are out in the community every day, helping Southeast Texans heal in the comfort of their own homes. Today, we are proud to spotlight one of our incredible nurses: Rhonda Laffoon.

Rhonda serves patients across Orange, Bridge City, Vidor, and Beaumont, bringing compassion, skill, and dedication to every home she visits. A graduate of Lamar Port Arthur’s nursing program (Class of 1997), she has spent 28 years in home health, making a difference one patient at a time.

💙 About Rhonda
Rhonda is most proud of her children, who she describes as “wonderful humans.” When she is not caring for patients, you can find her camping at the lake, spending precious time with her grandbabies, or enjoying her favorite classic rock. (If she could go back in time, she would love to see Fleetwood Mac live!)

Her guilty pleasures? Chocolate, Mexican food, and browsing the aisles of Marshalls.
Her dream trips include witnessing the Northern Lights or traveling to Greece to see its iconic blue waters and white sands.
And her celebrity crush? Robert Redford.

💙 Why She Became a Nurse
Nursing runs in Rhonda’s blood—her mother and grandmother were both nurses and inspired her to follow in their footsteps. She says the best part of nursing is helping improve her patients’ health and being someone, they can trust and confide in. Her greatest strength is compassion, and if she could have any superpower, she would choose the ability to take her patients’ pain away.

💙 Why We Love Rhonda
Rhonda says she enjoys working at Pulse Homecare because of her “nurse work family” and because the patients always come first. Her coworkers describe her as knowledgeable, dependable, and always willing to help. One teammate shared that she “goes over the top for her patients,” and her patients could not agree more. They say she makes them feel cared for, look forward to seeing her each week, and appreciate her friendly and sweet nature.

💙Rhonda, thank you for your dedication and for representing Pulse Homecare with such heart. We are honored to have you on our team.
If your parents, grandparents, or loved ones need quality homecare in her service area, Rhonda comes highly recommended and deeply loved.

Pulse Homecare offers in home Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Medical Social Worker.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation May Help with Autoimmune Diseases: Emerging research indicates that delivering small electrical pulses to the vagus nerve through implanted devices may offer a promising approach to treating autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Traditionally, these conditions are managed with immunosuppressive drugs, which can be costly and increase susceptibility to infections. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) presents a potential alternative or complement […]
