Happy Pita Day! Pita chips are a FUN and easy way to target feeding therapy goals at home!

Here’s how to use them:

👃 Explore first
• Smell it
• Touch it
• Tap it on your lips
• Kiss it
No pressure to eat — just build comfort!

👅 Food chaining ideas
• Plain pita chip
• Dip in hummus or ranch
• Spread a thin layer instead of dipping
• Add tiny crumbles to a preferred food
• Try soft pita bread as the next step

💪 Oral motor skills
• Great for working on biting strength
• Practice small bites vs. big bites
• Listen for the “crunch” to encourage chewing

🗣 Speech + language goals
• Request: “Dip please!”
• Describe: crunchy, salty, triangle
• Work on sequencing: dip → bite → chew → swallow

Remember: progress in feeding therapy is about tiny steps and positive experiences. Keep it playful, pressure-free, and celebrate every win

Your backyard = your child’s therapy gym 🌿☀️

You don’t need fancy equipment to work on speech, occupational, and physical therapy goals at home! Try this with everyday backyard fun:

🗣 Speech Therapy
• Practice requesting: “Push me!” “More bubbles!”
• Work on action words: run, jump, throw, dig
• Describe what you see: big/small, fast/slow, wet/dry

✋ Occupational Therapy
• Sidewalk chalk for fine motor and pre-writing skills
• Water tables & sq**rt bottles for hand strength
• Sandbox digging for sensory play

🏃‍♂️ Physical Therapy
• Trampoline or hopping games for balance
• Climbing ladders or playground sets for strength
• Ball kicking/throwing for coordination
• Races to build endurance

Therapy doesn’t stop when you leave the clinic — it happens in real life, during real play

From strengthening little hands to building confidence in everyday tasks, you have grown in so many ways. Graduating from Occupational Therapy is a BIG accomplishment, and we couldn’t be prouder of the progress you’ve made.

It’s MAR10 Day! Leveling up skills one power-up at a time in OT, PT, and Speech.
OT = collecting coins is great fine motor practice, sensory play, and daily life skills—Mario Day style!
PT= jump like Mario, balance like Luigi! PT helps kids build strength, balance, and coordination
Speech= break out your favorite way to play Mario and practice preposition skills like on, off, in, and under.

Therapy isn’t a race—it’s a game with checkpoints, power-ups, and big wins!

This week at Shorkey, we enjoyed camping themed books and even went on our own mini camping adventures. The children explored wildlife, practiced pitching a tent, and pretended to roast marshmallows. It was a fun, hands-on way to bring our stories to life. 🏕️🦌🎣
