SHELTER INFO 🥶

📢 Cold Weather PSA
As the temperatures drop, the City of Beaumont wants to make sure no one is left out in the cold. Please look out for your neighbors and help us spread this information with those in need.
➡ Shelter Information:
Henry’s Place and the Salvation Army are working together to provide around-the-clock shelter coverage.
The Salvation Army’s “Home Sweet Home” Shelter (1094 McFaddin) will open at 5:00 PM to serve dinner and welcome overnight guests. Because of the cold, anyone arriving after 6:00 PM will still be allowed inside.
If the Salvation Army reaches capacity overnight, Henry’s Place will take overflow guests so no one is turned away.
➡Pets:
While animals are not allowed at Henry’s Place or the Salvation Army, Warm Hands Warm Hearts has stepped up to shelter up to 20 individuals with pets. The City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will support this effort by providing kennels as needed.
➡Transportation & Warming Stations:
Cold weather conditions have triggered our emergency transit plan.
If temperatures fall below freezing late Sunday, January 25, 2026, the ZIP Winter Weather Transportation Program will be activated.
This service will run from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM to help people get to area shelters safely.
Please share this information with neighbors, friends, and anyone who may need assistance getting out of the cold. 💙

Big News for Recovery in Southeast Texas!

We are incredibly grateful to the Dujay Charitable Foundation, administered by Hancock Whitney for their generous $40,000 grant, which made it possible for the Recovery Council of Southeast Texas to purchase this beautiful new 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid SUV!

This vehicle is already on the road, supporting our treatment and recovery services by helping clients get to:
✔️ Treatment and counseling
✔️ Medical and behavioral health appointments
✔️ Court and probation obligations
✔️ Recovery support and essential services

Reliable transportation removes one of the biggest barriers to recovery. Thanks to this investment, we can serve hundreds of individuals each year with greater consistency, safety, and dignity.

This isn’t just a vehicle. It’s access. It’s stability. It’s hope in motion. 💙

Thank you, Dujay Charitable Foundation, for driving recovery forward with us!

Update: This was Reversed within 24 hours due to the overwhelming response nationwide!

Please call on your representatives to STOP the termination of billions of dollars in grants for Mental Health, Substance Use, Peer Recovery Services, and related life-saving programs.

These funds are not abstract budget lines. They are crisis counselors answering phones at 2 a.m.
They are peer recovery specialists walking alongside people when relapse, grief, or despair hits.
They are treatment beds, medications, transportation, housing support, and prevention services that keep families whole and communities safe.

Terminating these grants will have immediate and devastating consequences:

Increased overdose deaths and su***de rates

Longer wait times for treatment and mental health care

Closure of community-based programs that serve rural and underserved populations

Greater strain on emergency rooms, law enforcement, and child welfare systems

Mental health and substance use disorders do not pause when funding disappears. The need is growing, not shrinking. Cutting these resources now is not fiscally responsible. It is dangerous.

We urge lawmakers to act swiftly to:

Halt the termination of existing grants

Protect and restore funding for mental health, substance use treatment, and peer recovery services

Recognize these programs as essential infrastructure, not optional spending

Lives depend on these investments. Recovery depends on consistency. Communities rely on leadership that chooses people over politics.

Please act now. Do not let these services disappear.

Take action to save mental health funding

One parent entered the program with one goal: to reunite with their children. Over time, they discovered recovery had to be for themselves, too. Through guidance, support, and dedication, sobriety opened the door to a new life filled with stability, clarity, and hope.

Our Story

Our mission is to empower individuals and families to lead healthy lives in recovery through Substance Use Disorder prevention, intervention, and Person-Centered Recovery services for the community at large. For over 60 years since 1958 the Recovery Council of Southeast Texas has continued to provide much needed treatment to the citizens of Southeast Texas. Our agency is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and provides substance use disorder treatment to adolescents as well as adults. Our agency receives block grant funding which allows us to provide treatment to those who don’t have insurance or cannot meet their insurance deductibles and copay.

With 3 clinics in the Southeast Texas we are here to help those in need. In Beaumont and in Orange we have an IOP clinic which provides Intensive Outpatient treatment to both adolescents and adults. We also have an adult male residential clinic which provides a more intensive treatment for substance use disorders.

We recently added in 2018 our Opioid Recovery Support Services. These services provide an array of services to those suffering from Opioid Dependence.
