Kindness is often offered quietly, without expectation or recognition. It comes from a place of openness and trust.
But when that kindness is repeatedly taken for granted or treated as something to be used, a shift begins to happen. The person who once kept their heart open learns that protection is sometimes necessary.
At first, it may simply be a boundary. A pause. A moment of distance. Yet if the pattern continues, that boundary can slowly turn into a wall, one built out of the need to preserve what remains tender within.
Let us not allow things to reach that point.
