I get this question often - the answer is no....and kind of yes. If what you're looking for is consistent, DEEP pressure for the entirety of your massage - or if you prefer the "no pain, no gain" approach...I'm probably not the right massage therapist for you. And that's ok!! There are SO many amazing therapists in our area that do this kind of work! My approach to a session starts with a more medium pressure massage, working deeper in areas that I feel need that attention. This can sometimes get uncomfortable, but pain isn't the goal in my sessions. I often use heat, cupping, and stretching to get to the deeper muscle tissue. I'm not afraid to dig under your scapula, or take an elbow to a tight glute muscle, but I also believe that getting the body to "let go" and relax can really go a long way towards pain reduction and overall wellness.
