🍀 St. Patrick’s Day Party Fun! 🍀

Today was full of laughter, fun, and a little bit of Irish magic! Our participants at TAC celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with festive and funny games, hands-on activities, and plenty of green-themed fun and food.

From creative sensory crafts to dancing, to pool noodles, everyone had a chance to join in and celebrate together.

It was also group cook day! Thanks to our sponsors Tim and Dana Daugherty our participants made green ravioli topped with spinach Alfredo and chicken, breadsticks, and we all had several servings of salad.

Days like this are about much more than just fun—they help build friendships, encourage social interaction, and create joyful memories that last. 💚

We all feel so lucky to spend our days with such an amazing group of people! 🌈✨

🐐🧘‍♀️ Goat Yoga Fun! 🧘‍♂️🐐

Today our participants at TAC experienced something a little different…BABY GOAT YOGA!

Combining gentle movement, laughter, and the playful energy of baby goats (and very loud baby goat cries🤣) created a fun and relaxing experience for everyone.

Activities like this help our participants practice balance, coordination, and mindfulness, while also providing wonderful sensory engagement and emotional benefits.

But the best part was the smiles, laughs, cuddles and fun!

At TAC, we love finding creative ways to promote wellness, confidence, and joy in everyday activities. Experiences like this remind us that learning and growth can happen anywhere—even with a goat on your back! 🐐💚

Since we are growing, we are excited to announce…we are HIRING! 💜🧡💛

We are looking for the right person to join our team at The Ability Center as a Direct Support Professional
(DSP). This is a full time position and we need the right fit for our participants. Please read all of the
information below and if you believe YOU are our right fit, please reach out via the contact information found below.

🔸Job Summary:
We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to work at The Ability Center serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSP will support individuals in building daily living skills, social skills, and independence while ensuring a safe, respectful and engaging environment.

🔸Key Responsibilities:
*Provide direct care and supervision to special needs adults.
*Assist individuals with developing various life skills
*Support participants during structured activities
*Help individuals achieve their personal goals outlined in their individualized service plans
*Promote independence while providing appropriate support when needed
*Assist with personal care tasks when needed

🔸Qualifications:
*Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
*Experience working with special needs individuals preferred
*Ability to be patient and compassionate
*Must be supportive, encouraging, and a team player
*Be able to pass a background check and a drug screening
*Have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation
*CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain when offered

This position is based at The Ability Center in Beaver Dam, KY, which is an adult day training facility for adults with special needs. Activities and lessons may include instruction on planning out a meal and cooking meals, vocational skills development, arts and crafts, various types of community outings, recreational activities, and more.

🥖🧈 Nutrition Month Fun: Homemade REAL Butter! 🧈🥖

Yesterday our participants at TAC continued to celebrate and learn about Nutrition Month by making REAL butter!

Last week when we talked about real food vs processed food, we looked at the differences between butter and margarine, and one of our participants, Walter, suggested it would be fun to make our own real butter. So we made it happen!💜🧡💛

Using just 2 simple ingredients and lots of teamwork, everyone took turns pouring cream, working the mixer, and we all watched as it transformed from heavy cream into butter and buttermilk.

Then we put on our gloves, and learned about getting the moisture out and why, mixed in the salt, and learned how to store our finished product.🧂🧈

This hands-on activity helped build patience, and teamwork, while also teaching an important nutrition lesson: many foods we enjoy every day can be made from simple ingredients and not chemicals.

The best part? The taste! 😋

We are so thankful to Barb Phelps who reached out to us at TAC to invite us to her BnB for a cake decorating lesson!💜🧡💛

She had delicious cupcakes baked, the icing ready to go, and all the supplies they needed set out for each participant.

With her teaching, we all colored our icing, got it into our piping bags, learned how to squeeze the icing without it exploding out of the top, and how to make various designs.

It was incredibly fun and challenging, and we had delicious cupcakes for snack.🧁
