Day 9 of my self imposed quarantine.
Today was the day the executive order was issued by the governor of Oregon to stay at home. This order stated that medical massage is exempt.
At first I was elated. I could resume helping clients whom I see for chronic pain. However, after reading more about it, it's clear to me that no massage treatment is life saving intervention. Because of the inability to properly maintain the recommended social distance, massage actually puts my clients and me at risk to spread the virus.
Therefore, my resolve to remain closed is firm. Until I can resume my practice with the assurance that I would do no harm, I shall remain at home.
Until that time, use a hot pad to relax tight muscles, stretch, and hydrate. Spend time daily focused on your breath to calm your nervous system.
We will get through this extraordinary event stronger than we were before.
I attached a photo of some trees that were unaffected during the gorge fire in 2017. I feel a kinship with these trees right now. They were close but suffered no damage.
