ACFAS and American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery have taken joint action in response to the recent reclassification of DPMs by Optum as “Allied Health Professionals.”

As board-certified physicians and surgical specialists, DPMs are recognized as physicians by law and play a critical role in patient care and healthcare teams.
