“He restoreth my soul.” — Psalm 23:3 (KJV)
God cares not only for our bodies but also for our souls. Exhaustion, grief, and stress can weigh heavily on both patients and caregivers. God’s restoring work often comes through quiet moments of peace and reassurance. His presence renews us from the inside out.
Lord, restore weary souls and renew strength where it is needed most today. Let Your peace bring rest and hope to this place. In Jesus Name We Pray Amen

ARH Stroke Coordinator Courtney Jackson and Regional Community Development Manager Kelly Elkins recently visited Fairdale Elementary to talk with students about the signs and symptoms of stroke and the importance of good dental hygiene. 🧠🦷
Second grade teacher Ms. Grubb organized a full day of engaging activities to help students learn about the organs in the body and their important functions. Students had a great time learning how to take care of their bodies while exploring how different organs work together to keep us healthy.
Thank you to Fairdale Elementary and Ms. Grubb for inviting us to be part of such a fun and educational day! 👏

“The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” — Psalm 145:8 (KJV)
God’s character is marked by compassion and patience, especially toward those who are hurting or weary. His mercy meets us in moments of weakness and failure. As recipients of His grace, we are called to reflect that same compassion to others. This truth shapes how we speak, act, and serve throughout the day.
Lord, fill our hearts with Your compassion and mercy today. Help us extend kindness to every patient, family member, and coworker. In Jesus Name We Pray Amen

The ARH Stroke Support Group recently gathered for a wonderful afternoon focused on wellness, connection, and the healing power of gardening. 🌱🧠💚
Participants enjoyed learning about the benefits of gardening for both physical and mental health. Gardening can help improve mobility, reduce stress, and provide a sense of accomplishment—important steps in recovery and overall well-being after stroke.
The group also shared tips on starting small container gardens, choosing easy-to-grow vegetables and herbs, and how spending time outdoors can support heart and brain health. Most importantly, it was a great time for survivors and caregivers to connect, share experiences, and encourage one another on their recovery journeys.
We are grateful for everyone who joined us and look forward to continuing to grow together—both in the garden and in health!

Food is medicine! 💚

Dr. Barrett-Campbell and Kristen Buskirk Quinn from the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Oncology Department shared valuable information about colon cancer prevention, screening recommendations, and how whole foods play an important role in supporting colon cancer survivors.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to learn, create, and take steps toward better health! 🍇🥦

The 22nd Annual West Virginia Small Farm Conference was held February 26–28, 2026 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, bringing together farmers, food producers, and community partners from across the state. Hosted by West Virginia University Extension, this event focuses on boosting profitability for small farms, transitioning to local food production, and strengthening support for West Virginia’s local farmers and food producers. 🌱🚜

We were proud to have Regional Community Development Director Danielle Harmon and Brie Cox serve on the Food is Medicine panel discussion on Saturday, highlighting the powerful connection between fresh, local foods and improved health outcomes. Regional Community Development Manager Kelly Elkins and Stroke/Chest Pain Coordinator Courtney Jackson also participated in the Farmers Market, providing stroke screenings and educating attendees on heart health prevention, signs and symptoms of stroke, and ways to reduce risk through healthy lifestyle choices. 🫀🧠

Events like this remind us that supporting local agriculture and promoting heart-healthy living go hand in hand. When we invest in local food systems, we invest in healthier communities across West Virginia. ❤️🌾

🌟 Our community thrives when we look out for one another — and that includes staying up to date on important screenings.

Colon cancer often develops quietly, without symptoms, but screening can catch it early when treatment works best.

💙 If you’re 45 or older, or have a family history, talk with your provider about the right screening schedule for you.

Let’s take care of ourselves and each other. Encourage a friend or loved one to get screened.

📅 We’re here to help you get started.
