If you are looking to build physical endurance: Begin by adding more movement such as walking while you practice your nasal breath holds with gentle swaying of the head and torso. Moving more and breathing less while focusing on the flow of breath builds up your carbon dioxide tolerance even more. Remember to slow your breathing down and pay attention to allowing the ribs to expand rather than breathing into your chest. The more you move the more CO2 you produce, but the heavier you breath the more CO2 you gas off. Slow is the flow of breath. This is going to make your breathing more effective. Practicing nasal breathing and gently nasal breath holds increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the blood. This is a natural way to increase the body's CO2 tolerance. A healthy amount of CO2 in the blood, helps reduce anxiety, helps manage symptoms of depression, helps reduce inflammation and also increases energy. Breathing practice is explained in previous post. If the weather gets you down today, take a moment to do a forward fold. First, take a moment to notice how you feel before the pose. Hold for a few breaths. Take a moment to notice the difference after. Happy Friday!

Breathing Practice to unblock your nose: Sit in a comfortable place. Block the right side of your nose and breath in through the left. Repeat on opposite side. Take a full and slow inhale through both of your nostrils. Pinch your nose to hold your breath. Gently sway side to side. Hold your breath for a comfortable amount of time for your body. Release the nose and slowly inhale through both nostrils and then slowly exhale through both nostrils. Take a few resting breaths between through the nose. Repeat practice 5 to 6 times. Take a moment today to plant both feet firmly into the surface beneath you. As you slowly inhale lift the crown of your head up to the sky. Release your arms along side your body with your palms facing forward. Spread your fingers nice and wide to release your heart center. Stand in tadasana ( mountain pose) for 5 breaths feeling your strength building from within. Notice the steadiness you create in the world around you. ❤️
