My daughter’s birth was very fast.
Within days we saw:
• Poor latch
• Clicking while nursing
• Gassiness
• Mouth breathing
• Full body tension
• Developing plagiocephaly
We were told she had a tongue tie based on symptoms.
But fast births can create significant nervous system stress. When a baby doesn’t have time to gradually transition through labor, their body can stay in a protective, tense pattern.
Tension in the jaw, neck, and cranial system can absolutely mimic tongue tie symptoms.
We chose to address her nervous system first through gentle, specific chiropractic care.
Over the next couple months:
• Her latch normalized
• Clicking resolved
• Tension decreased
• Head shape corrected
• Feeding became efficient
She nursed successfully for 18 months without a release.
But hear me clearly:
While the goal is to avoid unnecessary procedures & have the very best outcome…
Some babies truly DO need a frenectomy.
A release can and sometimes is absolutely the right call.
And when it is — chiropractic care is still essential.
Because if a baby is holding tension before a procedure,
that tension doesn’t disappear after a revision.
The nervous system has to adapt.
The body has to relearn.
Healing has to be supported.
For kids who still require a release, chiropractic care helps:
• Prepare the body beforehand
• Reduce compensation patterns
• Support optimal healing
• Improve functional outcomes
This isn’t about being pro- or anti-release.
It’s about being pro-function.
If your baby is struggling, don’t just look at the tongue.
Look also at the nervous system. 🧠
