Dr. Sterling is double-board certified, ensuring a level of experience and training very few physicians share. We service patients all over New England.

Dr. Sterling is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. We offer a full spectrum of aesthetic and cosmetic plastic surgery. Dr. Sterling provides the entire spectrum of cosmetic surgery including breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, abdominoplasty, liposuction, facelift, eyelids, rhinoplasty and gynecomastia surgery to name a few. He also performs the largest number of cosmetic l***aplasty procedures in the northeast. Dr. Sterling has a special interest in the treatment of massive weight loss patients. Having performed many gastric bypass procedures during his training at The Hospital of St. Raphael, he has extensive experience in the care of bariatric patients. He regularly speaks at the bariatric support group meetings at The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester. He offers a wide range of procedures specifically indicated for massive weight loss patients including circumferential lower body lift, medial and lateral thigh lift, brachioplasty, mastopexy (breast lift), and face/neck lifts. Dr. Sterling performs complex reconstruction for skin cancer patients with a special interest in malignant melanoma and post-Mohs reconstruction. He also performs hand surgery, having had an additional year in advanced hand surgery training after residency. Dr. Sterling’s ongoing commitment to patient safety and satisfaction is evident in the personal attention and care he provides to each and every one of his patients. His interest is in excellent long-term results rather than just performing as many procedures as possible in the shortest period of time. From the initial consultation to the final follow up exam, he provides compassionate treatment tailored to the specific needs and desires of each individual. The staff at Sterling Plastic Surgery includes Sara Smith, Office Manager, Gloria Smith, Practice Manager, Liz McGowen, Medical Assistant, Ellen Wilson, CST/SFA, Denise O’Rourke, Bookkeeper and Elizabeth Ramos, Licensed Aesthetician. Most of the staff has worked with Dr. Sterling for years and are very experienced in the workings of a busy plastic surgery practice. In addition to being very personable, they have extensive knowledge of all of the procedures performed by Dr. Sterling.

A lot of women ask... What type of anesthesia is used for l***a reduction surgery?

There are several options for anesthesia, including local only (lidocaine and marcaine), local with oral sedation, or sedation/general anesthesia by an anesthesiologist. Most women choose local only, allowing them to drive themselves. Discomfort is minimal, lasting about 3-4 seconds during the injection, with no pain until 4-6 hours later, by which time the prescribed pain medication will have taken effect.
