Two years ago, one of our beloved residents, a longtime volunteer with Special Olympics Pennsylvania gave Tyler a challenge he couldn’t refuse… she dared him to take the Polar Plunge! 🥶💙
And of course… he did it.
This year, over the weekend, Tyler participated in the plunge again, but this time in her memory. What started as a fun dare became a meaningful tradition rooted in love, legacy, and purpose.
Throughout January and February, our community came together with various fundraisers to support this incredible cause. Every dollar raised went directly to Special Olympics Pennsylvania, an organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Beyond sports, they promote inclusion, confidence, friendship, and empowerment, giving athletes opportunities to shine both on and off the field.
The Polar Plunge is one of their signature fundraising events. Brave participants jump into icy waters to raise awareness and critical funds that help provide uniforms, equipment, coaching, health screenings, and competition opportunities, all at no cost to the athletes or their families. It’s cold for a moment, but the impact lasts a lifetime.
To make it even more special, Tyler wore a shirt covered in signatures from our residents, team members, and visitors taking each and every one of them along with him on that jump. 💙
We are so proud to honor her servant heart in such a powerful way. Her passion for giving back continues to ripple through our community, and we know she would be smiling watching Tyler run into that icy water.
Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, signed the shirt, and supported this cause. Together, we are making a difference, one brave plunge at a time! 🐻❄️💙
