Mid Cities Psychiatry specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental health, including substance use disorders. We are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological disturbance. Mental disturbances refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. But a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function. Mental disturbances can make one miserable and can cause problems in one’s daily life, such as at work or in relationships. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and counseling (psychotherapy). People seek psychiatric help for many reasons. The problems can be sudden such as a panic attack, or frightening hallucinations, thoughts of su***de, or hearing "voices." Or they may be more long-term, such as feelings of sadness and hopelessness or anxious feelings that never seem to lift, causing everyday life to feel distorted or out of control.

Emotional struggles aren’t a sign of a “weak mindset.”
While perspective plays a role, mental health is deeply connected to how the brain, nervous system, sleep, stress hormones, and life experiences work together.
Real healing looks at the whole picture—mind and body—because mental health is not about willpower alone. It’s about understanding, support, and the right care.

✨ You don’t have to “think your way out” of something that deserves compassion and professional attention.

Did you know your brain thrives on consistency, not just more sleep?

Going to bed and waking up at the same time helps regulate brain chemistry, improve mood stability, and reduce anxiety—even without adding extra hours of sleep.
Small routine changes can make a big difference in mental well-being.

Healing doesn’t ask you to rush.
Rest is productive. Pausing is permission, not weakness.

Some days move forward, others circle back—and that’s still healing.
Listen to your body. It speaks before burnout does.
Create emotional safety where your nervous system can finally exhale.
You’re allowed to heal at your own pace.
