Evelyn (Reagan) Seals, 95, passed away peacefully in Beeville, Texas, lovingly surrounded by her four sons on February 1, 2026.

Born March 4, 1930, in Beeville, to Rocky Reagan, Sr. and Eula Louise (Cleveland) Reagan, Evelyn lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to family, education, and community. She was a graduate of A.C. Jones High School and graduated with a degree in Education from Southern Methodist University, and a master’s degree from A&I Kingsville. She taught elementary aged migrant children and English as a second language for three decades in Beeville schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eula and Rocky Reagan, Sr.; her husband, Jack Seals Sr.; and her siblings, Flournoy Reagan, Bob Reagan, Rocky Reagan, Jr., Lucy Moore, Mary Louise Cheatham, and Marjorie (Reagan) Bledsoe.

Evelyn’s greatest joy came from her family. She married Jack Seals Sr. in 1965 with a ready-made family of four pr***en boys: Jack Reece Seals Jr., Hershall LaForge Seals, Michael David Seals, and Patrick Lowell Seals. She lovingly dedicated the entirety of her lifetime to raising the boys and providing unconditional love and devotion as if they were her own birth-children. Eventually the boys were adopted at the courthouse in Beeville. She is survived by her sons and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 2 p.m. at the Oakville Cemetery in Oakville, Texas with Pastor Lee Ann Barker officiating. A brief reception will follow at the Oakville Community Center.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt appreciation to caregivers Melissa Garcia and Belinda Munoz, and to Hacienda Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beeville for their loving care and kindness during the last years of Evelyn’s precious life.

For many, winter can bring a heavier emotional weight, especially for those carrying grief. The season slows us down, sometimes more than we’d like. Even so, some strength is built in stillness.

You may hear the terms viewing and visitation used interchangeably, but they can serve different purposes.
A viewing is typically a quiet time to pay respects in person, while a visitation is often a more open opportunity for family and friends to gather and offer support.
Both are meaningful in their own way.

Betty (Copeland) Wagner

Betty Joy (Copeland) Wagner, 92, of Beeville and George West, Texas, passed from this life in Beeville with her sons at her side on January 16, 2026. Betty was born on January 21, 1933, in Mineral, Texas to J.R. (Jesse) Copeland and Willie Evans.

Betty had a fun, happy and loving childhood, growing up on a peanut farm and was the 10th out of 11 children. She was raised Church of Christ and graduated from Pawnee High School, where she played on the volleyball team.

After graduation, Betty moved to Beeville and went to work for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. In the 1950s, she took part in a Communications Workers of America strike, demanding air-conditioning installation to combat the intense heat in the workplace. The effort resulted in a compromise with Southwestern Bell positioning fans over tubs of ice. Betty loved being a telephone operator and she was good at it. She was able to recite long series of numbers quickly and accurately from memory after hearing them only once.

On April 20, 1951, Betty married Lee Wagner, a marriage which lasted 27 years and produced two sons, Matthew and Mark. She converted to Lutheranism upon marriage.

Unable to find reliable childcare after the birth of her second son, Betty sacrificed her career to be a stay-at-home mom for a few years. Once both boys were in school, she returned to work as a switchboard operator at NAS Chase Field. Mid-career, Betty enjoyed using her eye for detail as a bookkeeper in Beeville for many years.

While balancing work and home, Betty raised her sons hosting birthday parties and Scouting events. She provided endless transportation to band and choir practice, recitals, summer camps, Bible school, art class, swimming, piano lessons and doctor appointments. Betty was a Cub Scout den mother when her boys were Scouts. She also fed family dogs, cats and cows when everyone else forgot. Betty remained devoted to the Lutheran church and made many lifelong friends in the church. She served on the Altar Guild and kitchen committee and sang in the church choir for many years. Through life’s hardships, Betty never once lost her faith in Jesus Christ and encouraged others when they lost theirs.

Betty had her own interests as well. She went to college late in life and graduated with honors from then-Bee County College with associate degrees in both Computer Science and Geology. She participated in the Beeville Community Choir for many years, singing in concerts, going on several trips with the choir and acting as secretary/treasurer. Betty was an advanced genealogist, spending long hours at seminars and libraries. She would happily spend the day researching at the Clayton Library in Houston while visiting her son. Once, she delighted in spending a week doing research at the famous FamilySearch Center in Salt Lake City. She regularly explored courthouses, libraries, country roads and cemeteries in her quest for family history and drafted anyone willing (and sometimes unwilling) to join her on the adventures.

In her late career, Betty worked in administrative roles until retirement. But she found time to take care of an older sister and her brother-in-law, even helping with the cattle at their ranch in George West. She finally retired to her own place in George West where she enjoyed several years walking the property with her dogs, viewing the wildlife. A passionate conservationist and animal lover, she amused herself by responding to requests to hunt on her land with, “You can come shoot pictures!” When poor eyesight caused her driving to become challenging, Betty moved back to Beeville and apartment living. Once she needed assistance with basic care, Betty moved to the Hacienda Oaks facility in Beeville, where she never lost her trademark positive attitude. She was blessed that her mind was sharp to the last moment.

Betty is predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Willie (Evans) Copeland and 10 siblings. She was the last living sibling. She is survived by her two sons, Matt Wagner of Beeville and Mark Wagner of Houston; and many nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville. The family will be receiving friends starting at 11 o’clock.

Commitment of the urn will take place at a later date in the Shiner City Cemetery in Shiner.

If anyone would like to leave a memorial in Betty’s name, the family recommends either Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville or the Beeville Humane Society.

Karen Sue (Choate) Stiltner

Karen Sue (Choate) Stiltner, 76, departed this life peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on April 14, 1949, to Henry Levis “Brownie” Choate and Hilda M. (Steindorf) Choate in Alice, Jim Wells County, and was the second of their three children.

Karen was a true cowgirl, riding horses not long after she learned to walk. She attended public school in Alice, Texas, but academics were never as important to Karen as her participation in youth rodeos across South Texas. She loved to work cattle on the family ranches and was an accomplished and fiercely competitive barrel racer, winning many trophies and prizes in rodeo competitions.

Karen and Larry Lawson Stiltner were married in December 1969 and resided around the world as he furthered his career as a turbine engineer with oil field service companies. They resided in Saudi Arabia for several years, as well as Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. Before finally returning to reside in the United States, Karen, Larry, and their children encircled the globe in their extensive travels.

Karen and Larry were happily married for 37 years. They had two children: Richard Scott Stiltner of Johnson City, Tennessee and Jeffrey Levis Stiltner of Flower Mound, Texas. The limitations imposed by Larry’s lengthy illness caused Karen to become accomplished at driving large recreational vehicles that could accommodate the medical equipment that Larry required, and she continued those travels after he passed away in 2006. Karen enjoyed traveling extensively in the continental United States before settling down in Rockport, Texas, to be near her family members in South Texas.

Karen mourned the death of her son Richard Scott Stiltner and is survived by her son Jeffrey Stiltner; daughter-in-law Jennifer Stiltner; grandson Nathan Stiltner (Dallas, Texas), grandson Derek Stiltner (Johnson City, Tennessee), and brother G. Wayne Choate and partner Bill Reed of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry A. Choate and aunts, uncles and cousins with whom she had close relations.

Special thanks to the management and staff of Brookdale Trinity Tower, where Karen resided for four years, for the loving care and nurturing environment that they provided during her residency.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Mineral Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being managed by Galloway & Sons Funeral Home, Beeville, Texas.

A luncheon will follow at the Beeville Steakhouse, 1912 N. St. Mary’s Street, Beeville, Texas.
