In 1999, Bellaire faced losing its local healthcare provider.
The decision to step in wasn’t easy. It meant taking on financial risk, operational challenges, and uncertainty.
But it came down to one thing, the mission.
On October 1, 1999, the Health Center expanded to Bellaire, preserving access to care and marking a turning point in its history.
Growth didn’t happen by chance. It happened by saying yes when it mattered most.

From the beginning, patients knew they would be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion, regardless of their ability to pay.

Programs like the sliding fee scale helped remove financial barriers, but what truly built the Health Center was something deeper, trust that has now grown across generations of families.

50 years later, that promise still guides every patient interaction.

Every day, our social workers and behavioral health professionals advocate for patients, support individuals and families through difficult moments, and empower people to improve their health and well-being.
By working alongside medical providers, nurses, pharmacists, and care management staff, our behavioral health team helps ensure patients receive whole-person care, supporting both mental and physical health.
As our behavioral health program continues to grow, we are grateful for the compassion, dedication, and expertise this team brings to our community.
