Why go anywhere else when you can get your valentine flowers right here in Belle Plain! You can pre-order your flowers for Valentine’s Day, and they will arrive in the store on Thursday. So get that order in before Wednesday and for the kiddos, we have single carnations for them to be able to give as well.

I usually do not share my personal life publicly. Because of my business, I keep my personal life personal. But this is something I know in my heart — in my gut — needs to be shared.

A few months ago, being new to single life, a friend asked me to go out. I said yes. We were bar hopping, laughing, enjoying the night. The first bar was great — drinks, conversation, nothing unusual.

The second bar was familiar. A place I had been many times over the years. A place I trusted.

That night, I went to the bathroom, stepped outside to smoke, came back in, and took a drink. After that moment, I don’t remember anything else from the night.

I don’t know what happened.
I don’t know how I got where I woke up.
I don’t know how I made the call for help.

What I do know is this: I woke up in a safe place — and I woke up terrified. That kind of fear doesn’t just go away. It changes you.

Last night was the first time I went out since then.

And yes, it was scary.
But this time, I took my control back.

I stayed local.
I went somewhere I knew people.
I watched my drink.
I took it with me when I walked away.

Not because I was weak — but because I was aware.

I listened to my body. I honored what I had been through. I made choices that were good and healthy for me.

I’m not fully comfortable yet.
I don’t know when the next time I’ll go out will be.
But I went out — on my terms.

And I made it home safe.
I woke up in my own bed.

I’m sharing this for other survivors — because I want you to know this clearly:
You did not do anything wrong.
Not by going out.
Not by trusting.
Not by living your life.

You are allowed to move at your own pace.
You are allowed to protect yourself without apology.
And you can take your power back — even when it’s scary.

Survival is strength.
And last night, I chose myself.

Someone asked me the other day what success means to me.

To me, success is loving my job — even on the exhausting days.
It’s building a healthy, loving place where our community and our vendors can grow and be successful together.

Success is knowing people by name.
It’s treating everyone who walks through the door like family, not like a number or an asset.
It’s creating a space where people feel welcomed, cared for, and at home.

That’s what makes Ellis Farm Store such a special place.

Today, I just want to say thank you — to our community, to our vendors, and to everyone who supports this little store in big ways. I truly feel blessed.

No matter what’s happening in the outside world, when you walk into Ellis Farm Store, I hope you feel peace. I hope you feel comfort. And I hope you feel the heart behind everything here — made with love, compassion, and care by every vendor who helps make this place what it is.
