Thank you for coming to Centre Care!
WHY WE TEACH: Robyn Rydzy, “A Poem in Our Eyes” at Stanton Court, the memory care unit at Centre Care Nursing & Rehabilitation
“I was interested in teaching this class because it combines my love of creative writing with my passion for helping those with memory loss feel validated and valuable. As a longtime volunteer with hospice agencies, I’ve learned how to communicate with people with memory loss in ways that affirm their value and their perspectives. This we do with much joy and laughter in each group poetry writing session. It can be a challenge to lead a group of participants who have varying abilities related to memory, communication and attention, but our poems are enriched by the different kinds of observations and insights each is able to share.”
