ATTENTION Basketball Players!!!
ATTENTION Shark Swimming Teams - Practice on Sunday also canceled.

‼️ We regret to inform you that due to the current weather forecast and for the safety of our athletes, coaches, officials, staff and volunteers, the 2026 Region J Basketball tournament and skills event has been CANCELLED ‼️

We understand how disappointing this is to all the athletes that have worked so hard preparing for this event. Unfortunately, rescheduling is not an option due to facility availability as well as, the remaining timeline for entry deadline for State.

Advancement to State for both team competition and individual skills will be determined by a random draw.

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility and continued support of Special Olympics and our athletes. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I know we all are wondering what is going on this weekend regarding Region J basketball. Us, along with the administrators at Wesclin High School are closely monitoring the incoming weather, and safety remains our top priority.

At this time, we have not made a decision on if we are canceling or not for this weekend. We plan to make a final decision by 10am tomorrow and will let everyone know what we decide.

We know planning ahead is important, and we promise to communicate any updates as quickly and clearly as possible. If changes are needed, the coaches will receive an email with details.

Thank you for your flexibility and for everything you do to support our athletes. If you have specific travel concerns in your area, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We are very excited for the opportunity to go represent USA Cheer at the ICU competition in Florida!

Here is a feel good story about an amazing group of Cheerleaders in the Belleville Area. They have been selected by USA Cheer as the Special Olympics Nation Team. They will be competing in Orlando FL at the ICU World Championships. They Compete April 15th & 16th.
