This weekend, as Winter Storm Fern blanketed our community with snow, ice, and bitter cold, the teams at Clara Maass Medical Center showed exactly what dedication and compassion look like. Through difficult travel conditions, long hours, and unexpected challenges, our physicians, nurses, clinical staff, facilities, environmental services, security, food & nutrition, and support teams never wavered. You showed up. You stayed. You cared—making sure our patients were safe, warm, and never alone.

Because of you, care continued without interruption. Because of you, families had peace of mind. And because of you, Clara Maass remained a place of healing when it mattered most. From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for your resilience, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to our community. We are endlessly proud of you. 💙❄️

Help us build the future of cancer care in New Jersey. At RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute, we are in the midst of transforming cancer care and research. As the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we are bringing elite, state-of-the-art freestanding cancer facilities to our neighborhoods.

But it’s about more than brick and mortar—it’s about the lives changed inside these walls.

With the recent opening of the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, the Melchiorre Cancer Center opening its doors this year, and the Specialty and Cancer Care Center on the Vogel Medical Campus following in 2027, your support fuels the research, prevention, and treatments that weren't possible yesterday.

Your donation directly impacts the health of our community for generations.

Maternal Health Awareness Day is a reminder that caring for moms means caring for families and communities. This week, Clara Maass Medical Center's Mother/Baby Team, along with our partners at the Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey and RWJBH Institute for Prevention and Recovery's Maternal Health Peer Recovery Program, hosted an educational tabling event in our Women's Health Center, sharing resources and information to support moms before, during and after pregnancy.

At Clara Maass, we're proud to care for our mothers today and every day.

Knowing the maternal warning signs, what to look for both pre and post-partum, are key to a successful pregnancy and keeping mom safe.

On Maternal Health Awareness Day, the Obstetrics’ Chairs at our nine birthing hospitals share life-saving messages about urgent maternal warning signs.

“Protecting mothers’ lives is a top priority at our health system. Every mother deserves safe, respectful, high-quality care—before, during, and after pregnancy,” says Suzanne Spernal, Senior Vice President, Women’s Services at RWJBarnabas Health.

This International Mentoring Day, we’re shining the spotlight on the importance of stories of shared learning and support! RWJBarnabas Health launched a system-wide Mentorship Program in October 2025, recognizing that mentorship is key for career wellbeing. To date, the program has 400+ combined mentee and mentor participants. Here, we kick off a special series, “Mentorship in Motion,” where some of our program participants talk about their journeys, discoveries and accomplishments - individually and together - and what this connection means. First up, meet Jennifer M. and CJ C.!

We’re committed to helping every member of our team feel supported to grow and achieve professional goals.

We were honored to celebrate Three Kings Day, "El Dia de los Reyes Magos" or the Feast of the Epiphany, with Newark City Councilman-at-Large Luis A. Quintana and North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr. who visited CMMC yesterday to donate toys from their annual Newark Three Kings Day Celebration to our pediatric patients.

The Center of Excellence for Latino Health at Clara Maass Medical Center team was on hand for the celebration earlier in the week at Essex County College to provide health screenings, educational education and ice cream treats to attending families.

This beautiful tradition reminds us of the joy of giving, hope and community partnership. We are deeply grateful for everyone involved in the Newark Three Kings Day celebration for thinking of the children we serve and spreading kindness where it's needed most!
