We are saddened by the passing of Keith Johansen, a cherished member of our community and a respected leader in our industry. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on November 15 at Lord Hill Farms in Snohomish, Washington. All who can attend are welcome to join, share stories and honor Keith’s life and legacy.

We had the pleasure of hosting the Heavy Metal Summer Experience Board retreat this week! Yesterday, we took a deep dive into this summer's analytics and began strategy planning for the future. Today, we brought in leadership development professional Dushaw Hockett to facilitate an engaging and collaborative discussion into the vision of the HMSE program, along with next steps. The future of our industry is bright, and we're proud to be part of this transformative program!

We are saddened to announce the passing of our esteemed colleague Peter Fluetsch. Peter served SMACNA-WW for many years in many positions, including president — twice. He founded Sunset Air with his wife, Kathy, in their Tumwater Hill garage in 1976 and grew the business into an inspiring beacon of success in our industry. As his family at Sunset Air notes in their heartfelt tribute, Peter’s “list of accolades and awards extends beyond what any individual should have been able to obtain in 100 lifetimes.” He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on to inspire us all.

Peter Fluetsch’s memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey.
