Meet my new office companion… Ozzy🐾

At the start of the year, Ozzy, a rescue pup with a past that has left its mark, became part of our family. Every day, as he curls up beside me in my office, he carries a quiet yet profound reminder: Healing isn’t linear. Trust takes time. Moving forward isn’t about erasing the past but learning to live with it.

As I watch him slowly shed his old fears, Ozzy shows me how real change happens when patience meets presence. That trust - whether in ourselves or others - is built step by step. And that healing isn’t about forgetting but about having the courage to move forward.

Because while the past may shape us, it does not have to define us.

Ganbatte! 🌊

The Japanese Art of Moving Forward. A book by Albert Liebermann and this weeks From Balance recommendation.

There is no direct translation for this Japanese philosophy of “ganbatte” but there seems to be a general consensus that the sentiment of the word is to “keep going.” Liebermann describes principles such as resilience and perseverance as general ways that the Japanese are able to further both personal and professional goals. Certainly, these are ideas and observations that we share at From Balance and if you do too, you will enjoy Ganbatte.

I recently acquired this beautiful print by local photographer called “Into the Mist.” Not only was I captured by the beauty of the photo, it also aligns so well with a key concept in my coaching: To help clients navigate the mysteries of fog.

Here you can see how it’s made it’s way from my favorite local coffee shop and into my office — where I’ll be looking at it every day and reminding me of the fog and what it means to me in my work… but more about that later.
