We have a good week coming up for you. On Monday is our Irish Mythology class were we get into part 2 of the Tain. If you missed class one no sweat you can still follow with part 2. Dagaz
Pronounced: DAH-gaz

We have reached the final letter of the Futhark this month. Dagaz. The image of Dagaz is believed to depict the balance between opposites; light and dark, beginning and end, day and night, etc.

Dagaz represents enlightenment and knowledge. It could indicate the beginning of abreakthrough or being on the edge of a big transition. The rune can indicate it is time for us to move on a situation. Like the other runes, the energy of Dagaz can only be fully utilized if the practitioner is also putting in work to push the transformation forward. Even when the going gets tough it is important to keep working on that forward momentum.

Don’t Overcook the Turkey

This is one of those holidays where it is far easier in theory than in practice. So why is that? Is it the stress of coordinating a giant meal and the mountain of dishes that go along with it? Probably…yeah. But it goes deeper than that. And no, it’s not about what breed will win the dog show or who is going to win the Packers Lions game and why it’s the Pack by a land slide. The biggest stressor is also the biggest perk. Our family.

We love them. Yes even your obnoxious drunk Uncle who spouts off ignorant s**t. They’re family so there is going to be love, regardless of how much they drive us crazy and we hate them. Because of all this we end up masking. Which can be the most exhausting aspect of it all.

Some of us make the choice to do it while others don’t have an option. I think that for both it’s important to remember that people all over the country are going through that as well, and not just for one day because of a holiday. You aren’t alone… we aren’t alone. It may seem like you are on an island waiting for someone to pass the potatoes or slice up the pie so you can slip out once all the old fogies fall asleep.

But that is where the family perk comes in. Remember that they do love you, no matter how much you annoy them, and they secretly hate you too. Because no matter what family is there for us when all our chips are down. There is a countdown going for how long we have them in our lives so enjoy every second that you do. And, by the way, lets also remember family doesn’t just mean blood. Family, the older we get, is also those we choose to be closest to us. So, when you get to escape the blood reach out to the chosen. They’re looking forward to hearing from you.

Take a few deep breaths, remember you aren’t alone, find the family you deserve, and for the love of all the gods…don’t overcook the damn turkey!
