I’m truly honored to mentor graduate students!
Greeshma Mallya’s passion for nutrition has always been rooted in equity and making sure communities have what they need to thrive. Already having earned a bachelor’s in nutrition as an undergraduate, she wanted to return to grad school and work to make positive change at the community level.
Mallya is now in her second year of the Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences degree program and also completing RDN training in the Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
“I was especially excited about the RDN training through the GCPD because of the program’s connections to Seattle hospitals and community centers. Learning hands-on, not just in a classroom, appealed to me.”
“One of my most memorable experiences was working at Camp Leo for Children with Diabetes for one of my GCPD rotations. I learned so much from both the campers and the medical staff. I also worked with Registered Dietitian Judy Simon Mind Body Nutrition, PLLC and UW Medicine, on creating a dietary guide for South Asian women with PCOS, a condition which is becoming more and more common.
In between these activities, Mallya volunteers at the Food Pantry to help improve food security for students
