AtWork! has the honor of supporting Jerry at the Spokane Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Jerry works as a part-time Office Assistant, a job that was developed through the state's Suppored Employment in State Government Program.
On January 7th, AtWork! coordinated a job site tour for Andrew Rowles, the Community Outreach Director for Congressman Michael Baumgartner of the 5th Congressional District.
During this meeting, Jerry got to talk about the tasks he does for the office and how he has grown throughout his time there. DVR SESG Manager, Katie Mirkovish, was able to speak about the program. In whole there are 79 people employed across state government.
DVR Region One staff were able to talk about how Vocational Rehabilitation Services are funded and how the services the consumers recieve, help them towards their employment goals. Success stories all around! Thank you all for this incredible opportunity!

🖤 Remembering Alice Wong 🖤 Today we honor the life and legacy of Alice Wong—activist, writer, and founder of the Disability Visibility Project—whose powerful storytelling and commitment to disability justice transformed how the world sees disabled lives. Alice centered the voices of the most marginalized, challenged ableism, and built community through storytelling, advocacy, and connection.
Her work reminded us that everyone deserves dignity, autonomy, and a platform to be heard. Alice believed disabled people should speak for themselves, and her influence will continue to inspire generations of advocates and storytellers.
We honor her vision for inclusion, community, and justice—and recommit ourselves to the work she dedicated her life to advancing.
Obama Leaders honor their friend Alice Wong, reflecting on her life, her light, and her legacy.
