Just finished up with the TB12 Performance and Recovery course. 🏈 Tom Brady and his staff developed a system where athletes can increase their chances to stay on the field by improving muscle function. Tom Brady is 44 years old playing NFL football and still top 5️⃣ QB in the world! We should probably hear him out(even if you’re a Hawks fan)! 😂 Here are some tips from the TB12 method that anyone can start practicing now!
Hydration:
💧Drink half your body weight in ounces and additional 8oz for every coffee☕️ and alcohol🍺 serving.
Example: 150lbs athlete to drink 75 ounces/day
Nutrition:
🥗Eat whole foods
🚫Less processed foods, sugar, and dairy products.
Cognitive fitness:
🧠65 degree sleeping temperature conditions
🚫No electronics/blue light 30mins before bedtime

What’s the difference between these two golfers? 🤔
Answer: Spine Angle 📐
Golfer on the ⬅️: Nice vertical spine angle/Not in Pain 👍🏽

Golfer on the ➡️: Reverse Spine Angle/In Pain 🙅🏽‍♂️😵☠️⛑🏥
On top of the back swing, draw a line from the middle of the forehead to middle of the pelvis. According to Titleist PerformanceI Institute, a reverse spine angle is the #1 cause of low back pain. On a right handed golfer, what tends to happen is the left lumbar facet joints gets jammed up on the backswing and/or the right sacroiliac joint snaps harder than usual on the downswing. After buckets and buckets of practice, symptoms will occur. 😖
Some correlations with Reverse Spine Angle:
🔘Lack of Pelvic Tilt Control
🔘Single Leg Instability
🔘Lower Quarter Rotation Stiffness
🔘Thoracic Spine Stiffness
🔘Lack of Back Hip Mobility
Exercise to play your sports! Don’t play a sport for exercise!

Scapula Mobility 💪🏽
Diagnosis:
Shoulder impingement 😵 College pitcher with pain on top of the shoulder at the AC joint 🤕
Treatment:
✅Increased pliability to the lats, teres, subscapularis, and pecs ⚒
✅Thoracic spinal adjustments ✋🏼🤚🏼
✅ Scapular Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs) 🚗
Did the trick 🙌🏽 Increased scapular upward rotation by about 1️⃣3️⃣ degrees. No more pain with full abduction and threw without pain after three sessions. 👊🏽
Prevention:
Challenge the scapulothoracic joint fully EVERYDAY. Yes I said it, EVERYDAY. If you don’t use it, you lose it. 🤯

Hips! Hips! And more Hips! .
Hips are one of the most underutilized joint in the body. It is a ball and socket joint that is made to flex, extend, and rotate. Long story short, the hips should do a lot 💪🏽 If your hips are not involved in your 🏋🏽lifting, bending, or 🏌🏼‍♂️golf swing, usually the joint above (low back) and below (knee) will take on the extra load. With time🕙🕐🕢, the low back and knee will fail especially performing a movement in rotation because those joints don’t rotate very well 😬
🔸Pigeon hip hinge + thread
▫️Focusing on hip external rotation in the pigeon pose
▫️core bracing to protect the low back
▫️thoracic spine rotation for fun!
🔸Hip Internal rotation in 90-90 position
▫️core braced
▫️use hip muscles to lift the back foot off the ground
🔸90-90 to half 90s
▫️core braced
▫️lift front leg off the ground
▫️slowly extend the knee and abduct the hip as much as you can with CONTROL
▫️gently land the foot then go back to the 90-90 position

If you have ANY pain while doing these exercises, go see your trusted chiropractor, physical therapist, and/or medical doc.👨🏼‍⚕️
🔓Unlock those hips!

Quick article about Tiger's hard work, dedication, and love for the game.
There are two types of treatments in physical medicine:
Passive Care and Active Care.
If your goal is to lay in bed and watch TV all day, Passive Care is the way to go.
If your goal is to be active, play sports, and exercise; you need Active Care.
You can't expect to achieve active goals with Passive Care. Please make sure your treatment for your injury matches your goal!

“There is a tendency for rehab to involve passive treatments,” he explained, like ultrasound or traction or massage or dry needling. Those have not been shown to help."
-Dr. Mirza

Surgeons cured Tiger Woods’s back on the fourth try — with plenty of help from Woods himself. But fusion surgery provides no guarantees of success.

Odell Beckham Jr, Wide receiver for the New York Giants, spent $300,000 last year on his body. Give yourself the best chance to stay on the field. If Odell is not on the field, he can't enjoy what he loves to do and can't bless us with his talents. I see a lot of young athletes that train like a pro athlete but doesn't get the recovery and attention like a pro athlete. No matter what level of athlete you are, surround yourself with dependable health professionals and trainers.

Dr Jason will treat you the same whether you’re a pro ball player like Carson Fulmer, a college athlete, a high school athlete, a little leaguer, and/or a weekend warrior. The GOAL is the same! Let’s be the best mover you can which will translate to durability on the field. 💪🏽 Best wishes to Carson as he heads off to spring training with the White Sox!
