We had Amber visit with us today and she took the time to read two books to the children in the waiting room, while they waited for their mom!!

Bellevue Public Schools Social Work Team is looking for volunteers for their upcoming Poverty Simulation at Logan Fontenelle Middle School on Monday, February 16, from 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM.

This simulation is designed to increase awareness and empathy, allowing participants to experience the very real daily struggles of individuals and families living in poverty. It helps sensitize participants to the challenges faced by low-income community members, especially in our local area.

Volunteer Responsibilities:
Attend the orientation: Monday, February 9, 2026, from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM at the Lift Up Sarpy Office (1620 Wilshire Dr., Suite 301, Bellevue, NE 68005)

Attend the simulation: Monday, February 16, 2026, at Logan Fontenelle (701 Kayleen Dr., Bellevue, NE 68004) from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

During the simulation, volunteers will:
Play a scripted role of a community member (i.e., banker, mortgage collector, utility collector, police officer, pawnbroker, etc.)

Facilitate or co-facilitate small group reflection discussions about the simulation

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form at https://bit.ly/PovSim26 by Friday, February 6. If you are unable to attend the orientation but still want to volunteer for the simulation, please email Fayth by phone at 402-293-4390 or email at fayth.jackson@bpsne.net.
