Every family has their own way of honoring the people they've loved and lost.
Some plant a garden. Some cook a favorite meal. Some gather every year on the same day and tell the same stories — and laugh just as hard each time.
We'd love to hear from you: What's the most meaningful way you've celebrated a life?

Grief looks different for everyone — and there's no right or wrong way to feel it.
The National Institute on Aging reminds us that sharing stories, saying a loved one's name, and remembering who they were aren't things to avoid. For many families, they're part of how healing begins.
At Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, our support doesn't end at the door. If you or someone you love is navigating loss, this is a gentle place to start:
Get help for your grief after the death of a spouse. Read about bereavement counseling, support groups, and how to get on with life without your partner.

There's a moment — usually around week three or four — when the casseroles stop coming and the phone gets quiet. Everyone else has returned to their lives. And you're still standing in the middle of yours, wondering how that's possible.
Grief doesn't follow the timeline the world seems to expect. And grief fatigue — that bone-deep exhaustion that comes from hurting while also trying to function — is real, even when it's invisible to everyone around you.
If that's where you are right now, here's one small thing: you don't have to be okay.
Grief isn't something you finish. It's something you learn to carry — and you don't have to figure out how to do that alone. 💜

Writing an obituary is one of the hardest things a grieving family is asked to do — and often, it has to happen quickly.
Most people default to listing the facts: dates, names, survivors. But an obituary can be so much more than that. It can be the first place someone learns who your loved one truly was.
Start with a moment. A habit they had. The way they laughed, what they were known for in the neighborhood, the phrase they always said. Those small details are what people remember years later — and they belong in print.
From there, let the story unfold naturally: their life, their loves, the people they're leaving behind. You don't need to capture everything. You just need to capture them.
If you're not sure where to begin, that's okay. We're here to help. Our team at Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home can guide you through the process — gently, at your pace. Reach out anytime: https://bit.ly/3xTykHe

One of the most loving things you can do for the people you care about is make the hard decisions before they have to. 🌷
Pre-arrangement planning isn't about dwelling on loss — it's about lifting a weight from the shoulders of those you love. When the time comes, your family won't have to guess what you would have wanted. They'll know. And in a moment when emotions are already running high, that clarity is one of the greatest gifts you can give them.
At Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, we walk families through this process gently and without pressure — at whatever pace feels right. Every detail you share with us becomes a guide for honoring your life the way you truly want it remembered.
If you've been thinking about it, we're here to talk whenever you're ready. https://bit.ly/4qF9alT

What options exist when a family can't cover funeral costs?
Beyond the family, there are a number of resources that can help cover funeral costs: veterans' benefits, union benefits, and assistance from various civic and organizational programs. Experienced funeral directors are typically well-versed in these options and can help families navigate the process of accessing them.
What many people don't realize is that funeral directors often quietly absorb costs that exceed what assistance programs provide — because ensuring a respectful, dignified burial matters more than the bottom line.
At Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, we believe every person deserves to be honored with dignity, regardless of circumstance. If you're unsure what options are available to your family, we're here to help you find answers. Reach out anytime. https://bit.ly/3xTykHe

The moments that matter most are often the simplest ones. 🌼
A familiar phrase they always said. The way they showed up for family dinners. The small traditions that made everyday life feel special. These are the memories that stay with us—quietly shaping how we remember and honor the people we love.
Today, we invite you to reflect on those “Moments That Matter.” What are the little things you’ll always carry with you?

The Lawrence T. Miller Funeral home was originally built as a private residence by the Bayne family in the late 1800’s for whom the local park and library are named. The property was eventually deeded to the borough of Bellevue.
In the early 1900’s the property was purchased by the Cray Brothers, owners of the local livery stable, to house Cray Brothers Undertakers and Embalmers. Decades later, it became the (Timothy) O’Shea Funeral Home until purchased in 1957 by Lawrence T. Miller.
Today, The Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Inc. is the ultimate provider of creating healing experiences in the community. The Funeral director is Janice Miller Stein CFSP, The daughter of the late Lawrence T. Miller and Rosemarie Miller, founders of the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home. Janice was born in Bellevue and raised in the family residence above the funeral home - she literally grew up in funeral service.
Janice attended and graduated from Assumption School and Northgate High School. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from Lock Haven State College in 1983, Janice attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary of Science where she graduated with honors. She became a licensed funeral director in 1985 and worked alongside her father, until his death in 1996.
