Today was the first day it really felt like fall—grey skies, a little rain, that crisp shift in the air. 🍂 That means one of many things…soup season!
I couldn’t wait for the first rainy day, so I’ve been making a pot of soup every Sunday since late August, and I want to share a few reasons I love it:
✨ It’s resourceful—saving money, time, and energy.
✨ One day of crock-pot magic means days of easy lunches and dinners, which saves mental bandwidth, allowing me to focus on other things throughout the week.
✨ Great for making use of ingredients you already have, or need to use quickly, like wilting veggies.
✨ Gentle on digestion and incredibly nourishing, which allows your body to put more energy toward healing and repair.
✨ There are endless soups, stews, chilis, and chowders to choose from—it’s a wonderful way to creatively express with flavors.
✨ Bonus: the flavor develops over time, so it often tastes better days after you’ve made it.
As the PNW shifts into cooler, darker days, resourcefulness feels more important than ever. Soup just makes sense—it’s comforting, nourishing, and gives my body fuel while freeing up my mind for other things. Plus, it’s something I truly look forward to at the end of a long day. For me, soup is comfort, nourishment, and a little ritual that makes these darker, cooler days feel cozy and grounded. Cheers to soup and its warm deliciousness!
🔥 I need mine piping hot—how about you?
