Happy Thanksgiving to all my wonderful patients and their amazing parents!

I hope you are all enjoying good food and good company today. I’m working some pediatric emergency medicine shifts for the holiday week, and we are seeing quite a bit of viral illnesses including Adenovirus, Rhinovirus, and of course Influenza. Wash those hands, stay home if sick, and get your flu shots 😊 I’ll see you all soon!

We will be closed today and tomorrow for the holiday, and open regular hours starting Monday.

The Hepatitis B vaccination has decreased the rate of childhood hepatitis B infections by 90%! How amazing is that? Did you know that only half of Hepatitis B infections in children were caused by maternal exposure? Did you know that testing for hepatitis B in pregnancy can show false negative results? Did you know that almost all children who contract Hepatitis B will develop liver failure? Did you know Hepatitis B can live in a microscopic drop of blood for over a week? It’s a very resilient virus and can survive on surfaces for over 7 days! These are a few of the very important and scientifically sound reasons it is recommended the Hepatitis B vaccine be started within the first 2 months of life.

thank you , yesterday’s White House event on autism was filled with dangerous claims and misleading information that sends a confusing message to parents and expecting parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals.
We know autism is complex, highly variable and increasingly linked to genetics. Studies have consistently shown Tylenol use in pregnancy does not cause Autism.

It’s hard for anyone not to become emotional remembering 9/11. This day was a huge driving force in my decision to pursue a career in medicine. I remember being glued to the news and wondering what I could possibly do to help. I was in awe of the first responders and realized my calling was to heal. May we never forget that day and may we continue to serve others in the memory of those who were lost. This transcript from flight 93 is inspiring and heartbreaking. Never Forget.

Thank you Dr. Rossome for summing up my job as your child’s pediatrician. I don’t make money from big pharma for vaccinating, and I went into the lowest paid specialty in medicine because I absolutely love taking care of kids. It’s such a privilege. trust your pediatrician, not your politician. 🤍
