While we aren't able to offer the Creativity for Coping series as regularly we are happy to announce an upcoming workshop in June!

Have you ever been curious about dance, movement, or flow? Join us on June 12th at 5:30 PM for a flow workshop and flow jam at the NAMI Whatcom Office.

Don't know what flow is or how to dance? Well this is the perfect opportunity to learn how movement can be a wonderful coping skill for mental health AND can even be a new favorite hobby.

This event is free and will have flow props provided to use but any monetary donations will go directly to continuing mental health resources, presentations, volunteers, events and so much more.

For more information reach out to our Peer Program Coordinator, Brylie, at btaylor@namiwhatcom.org.

See you there!

You may have seen the March 6 Seattle Times article titled “NAMI’s Washington state chapter dissolves amid ‘grievances.’” We want you to hear directly from us about what this means — and what it does not mean — for NAMI Whatcom.

First and most importantly: NAMI Whatcom remains strong, stable, and fully operational. NAMI is a federated organization, meaning each local affiliate is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit with its own board, finances, and programs. NAMI Whatcom is not governed by the state organization, nor are we financially dependent on it for our day-to-day operations.

In 2025 alone, over 2,800 individuals participated in our support groups and education programs, including Family Support Group, Connection Recovery Support Group, and our signature education offerings. These groups continue to provide safe, confidential spaces for people living with mental health conditions and for family members seeking understanding and connection. We will continue offering all of these programs without interruption.

The recent media coverage reflects a multi-year process involving the state organization and does not impact our local operations. Our commitment to Whatcom County remains unchanged: reducing stigma, increasing access to support, and advocating for a stronger behavioral health system.

We are deeply grateful for your trust and partnership. Because of you, NAMI Whatcom will continue to be here — steady, community-rooted, and mission-driven.

Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.

-NAMI Whatcom

The NAMI Whatcom team had so much fun down in Olympia talking to our representatives and senators about mental health bills and funding needs in Washington state and Whatcom County.

Thank you to all the volunteers at their respective affiliates that made this day such a success with their dedication, passion, and vulnerability when telling their stories.

Your voice matters.

We look forward to next year and make sure you check out your local NAMI to see what is happening in your community.
