We are proud to be a participant in this program, providing new books to kids at their Well Child Check appointments and helping parents learn skills and tips for reading to their kids. Washington now has its first-ever law protecting the 340B pharmacy program and patients' access to medications — and our very own Dr. Lisa Nelson was standing right there when Governor Bob Ferguson signed it. Thanks to our lawmakers for taking the time to meet with us and for standing up for our patients.

For many young children navigating big emotions like worry, fear, or the weight of difficult experiences, finding the words to express these feelings can feel impossible. That's why Unity Care NW's new Children's Play and Art Therapy program is bringing a gentle, proven approach to healing to their youngest patients. Everyone deserves to have access to care that keeps their smiles healthy.

Our Mobile Dental program helps that happen — by visiting elementary and middle schools, Head Start programs, and daycare centers, our dental team is able to provide exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and oral hygiene instruction to children all throughout Whatcom County.

Oral health is vital to overall health, but low-income and underserved populations in Washington often have a difficult time accessing dental care. Community health center dental clinics help fill this gap.

The Unity Care NW mobile dental program provides routine dental care at elementary and middle schools, Head Start programs, and daycare centers throughout Whatcom County.

In the Seattle area, International Community Health Services (ICHS), Neighborcare Health, Seattle Roots Community Health, and Sea Mar Community Health Centers all have dental clinics that accept patients regardless of their insurance status.

In eastern Washington, CHAS Health offers preventative (like exams and cleanings) and emergency services (like root canals, fillings, and extractions) for both children and adults.

What’s special about March 6? It’s National Dentist Day! An opportunity to share appreciation for the important contributions to oral health that our dentists provide.

Last week Unity Care NW joined Community Health Center staff from around the state to meet with lawmakers and advocate for our patients and the health care safety net that so many Washingtonians rely on.

We were there to make sure health care is available to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. We advocated for affordable prescription medications, essential medical services, and continued support for people who are uninsured, underinsured, or enrolled in Apple Health.
