I spend a lot of my time thinking about what it really means to care for a community.
At Rule and Associates, our clinicians sit with people in the most tender, difficult moments of their lives—day after day, hour after hour. It’s quiet work. It’s powerful work. And it changes lives.
But that’s not the only way we show up.
Recently, one of our team members joined me at the DVSAS annual fundraiser, where we were honored to be a platinum sponsor. Sitting in that room—with doctors, housing folks, law enforcement, volunteers, and others working on the front lines—was a reminder that this work is bigger than any one of us. Real change happens when people come together and stay committed to the long game.
Across our community, we’ve tried to show up in ways that reflect what families actually need. We’re a founding sponsor of Heart of Play, a space being built to center connection, creativity, and childhood. We’ve supported youth sports, local events, and the Blaine Schools Foundation-because belonging and stability don’t just happen in big moments, they’re built over time and they are built together. And we supported Whatcom Dream this year, who teaches financial literacy to empower those experiencing poverty.
In Everson, we opened our doors to a nonprofit that started in the middle of the floods- helping them move from an outdoor setup into a warm, steady space. Today, they provide clothing and household goods to families who need them, and they’re now a permanent part of our building. Our East County office continues to host a self-sustaining food pantry that neighbors quietly rely on an contribute to every day.
None of this is flashy, in fact, most of it happens behind the scenes. But it matters. And we want you to know that we are not just another online platform or capitalist venture for a stranger. We are all committed to supporting us- our neighbors and our own community.
Because when a child has food, when a family has stability, when someone feels supported instead of alone—it changes the trajectory of their life.
I hear often from people in our community about the difference our clinicians are making. Parents stop me. Clients reach out. Their stories stay with me. And I carry that back to our team every chance I get.
We can do more together than we ever can apart and we are here for it.
Our commitment is not just to the therapy room. It’s to being deeply, consistently rooted in this community—to showing up in ways that are steady, human, and real.
We’re here. And we’re in it with you.
