After the newborn phase, many parents wonder: Am I supporting my baby’s development the right way?

Purposeful Play is a guided 6-week learning series designed to answer that question — and help you find your confidence in being your little one’s first teacher —through connection, play, and practical support.

Led by Andrea Lacey, M.A., CCC-SLP—a mother and pediatric speech therapist—this series helps parents of 6–18 month olds build strong foundations in communication, sensory awareness, music, and food introduction. Each week includes a focused topic, hands-on activities, and space for reflection and discussion with other parents.

A supportive next step into parenthood, held with care.

Sliding scale always available 💛

You don’t have to attend every class—or any class at all—to help build this Village.

A small monthly gift helps keep our doors open, our programs accessible, and this space feeling like home for families across Whatcom County.
Show up how you can. It all counts. 🤍

From bump to baby, you don’t have to figure it out alone 🤍

Our Bump to Baby Prenatal Masterclass is an 8-week series designed to support you through pregnancy and into the early postpartum weeks—with each session led by a different trusted local expert in their field. You’ll be learning directly from pelvic floor PTs, birth professionals, mental health providers, infant feeding and sleep experts, and more.

✨ Topics we’ll cover:
• Functional movement with a pelvic floor PT
• Planning your birth + understanding your options
• Birth basics + coping mechanisms
• Postpartum mental health
• Newborn care + postpartum planning
• Feeding your baby
• Infant + family sleep
• A closing potluck to weave together any missing pieces

🗓 Starts January 22
📍 Thursdays, 6–7:30 pm
🤍 Sliding scale available

This series is about feeling informed, supported, and connected—before birth and long after. Come learn from the people in our community who support families every day, and build a village you can lean on as you step into parenthood.

For people who have recently had a baby, this casual drop-in offers a chance to get out of the house, enjoy a beverage and snacks, and connect with other new parents.

❄️ We know how much effort it can take just to leave the house in those early days — even stepping outside can feel like a win.

Come as you are, however you are faring. Stay as long as feels good. Whether you’re here for a few minutes or settle in longer, this is a relaxed space where others are joining for similar reasons.

☕️ Our compassionate hosts will make sure to help connect you with local resources and provide answers to questions you might have!

No age limit, does not have to be your first baby.

Soft couches. Gentle lighting. Real conversations.
Providers who listen. Hosts who hold space.
And a deep belief that there is no single “right” way to become a parent. 🤍

At Whatcom Family Village, we’re bringing motherhood back to the forefront of our culture—out of isolation and into community.

Bump to Baby: Prenatal Masterclass is an 8-week, heart-centered series designed to prepare you not just for birth, but for the life that follows. Over eight evenings, you’ll learn from compassionate local experts while building meaningful connection with other expectant parents. Every week includes time to slow down, share, and be witnessed.

This isn’t a hospital packet and a checklist.
It’s warmth, nuance, evidence-based guidance, and room for your values, questions, and intuition.

✨ Birth prep
✨ Postpartum planning
✨ Mental health support
✨ Infant care
✨ Real talk about the transition into parenthood

Enrolling now for our next 8-week series beginning 1/22.
Come get comfortable. Come get informed. Come build your village.

Birth stories hold so much power.
Not just for the one sharing—but for the ones listening, witnessing, remembering.

On 1/9 from 5–7pm, we’re gathering for a Birth Story Circle.
You’re welcome to share your story, or simply come and witness.
No fixing. No advice. Just presence, honesty, and being held in community.

All birth stories welcome.
Come as you are.
