As we step into 2026, we want to take a moment to reflect on everything that 2025 brought to Austin County EMS.

This past year was nothing short of transformational. ACEMS experienced exponential growth, not only in numbers, but in capability, culture, and connection. We strengthened our team, expanded our reach, and continued evolving as an EMS agency deeply committed to excellence in patient care.

As we look ahead, our goals remain clear and intentional:
🚑 Continued advanced and realistic training
🚑 Investment in new equipment and technology
🚑 Updated clinical care guidelines rooted in current, evidence-based medicine
🚑 Catapulting ACEMS into a new era as we strive to be the best rural EMS department in Texas

Over the last year, we gained new employees, new friends, new family members, and new partnerships. Each connection helps move us closer to our mission of delivering the highest level of care to the community we proudly serve.

None of this would be possible without the overwhelming support of our community. We extend our deepest gratitude to our generous sponsors who helped make our Christmas party possible, as well as to those who donated throughout the year to support departmental improvements.

To everyone who supported our crews in any way throughout the year, thank you. Every gesture matters.

Your kindness lifts our crews, motivates even the quietest team member, and reminds us why we do what we do every single day. Austin County truly is home to one of the kindest, most caring, and most passionate communities we could ever ask for.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Yesterday, while our crews remained in service responding to calls and supporting the community, the Blackmon Family generously provided a full Thanksgiving meal for our on-duty teams. Their kindness gave our medics a sense of home while they were away from their own families.

To the Blackmon Family, thank you for thinking of us and taking care of our people.
To our crews, thank you for your commitment and professionalism, even on the holidays.
To our community, thank you for your continued trust and support.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you yesterday, today, and every day!

🚨 Big week here at Austin County EMS! 🚨

The stakes are high, the pressure is on, and emotions are running strong as our team tests for Lieutenant (Field Training Officer) positions.

Becoming an LT at ACEMS isn’t just a title. It’s a responsibility. These are the people trusted to shape new providers, uphold our clinical standards, and be the first source of guidance when things get tough. They’re the ones expected to know the answers, set the tone, and carry the mission forward for the citizens of Austin County.

The process includes:
✅ Written exam
✅ Scenario evaluation, graded by ACEMS and outside agencies to keep things fair
✅ Final interview with Chief Walter Morrow and Assistant Chief Rhonda Ritchey

Only those who pass each phase will earn the privilege of leading the next generation of EMS professionals.

To every candidate stepping up: good luck. Your effort and commitment already speak volumes.

And a big thank you to the leaders who helped us make this process stronger:

👏 Fayette County Emergency Medical Services Assistant Chief Gary Daniels
👏 Montgomery County Hospital District Emergency Preparedness Manager Jason Gutierrez
👏 Colorado County EMS Assistant Chief Marti Kalmbach

Your support for EMS extends far beyond your own jurisdictions, and we appreciate it!
